    Brockton Cycle Center - RIP?

Just saw on FB that BCC is going out of business. Bummer. I got a great deal on my ZX6R there and I liked the folks there. Anyone here why they bit it?

The only thing I ever found them to be good for was their gear selection that was far more extensive than most dealerships. They did have some killer deals on Fieldsheer products back when I used to frequent their shop(2004)

The one thing I've learned about Fieldsheer gear after finding some good deals is that is isn't worth it. My Fieldsheer gloves blew a seam after less than a month from just wearing them around town, and when I crashed the shoulder of my leather jacket tore open faster than you could imagine. I will never buy another piece of Fieldsheer gear again. It's never good to see a local shop go under though.

I crashed at 55 wearing a Fieldsheer leather jacket and leather pants. I had the seam on the ass restitched (it didn't completely pop, even after sliding 125 feet) and gave the jacket to someone (after insurance covered for the cost of a new one), who wears it still.

Feel free to keep using it, but after 2 failures (keep in mind my AGV pants and Teknic gloves had barely noticeable scuff marks in the crash that blew out the shoulder) I refuse to buy any more. Granted the jacket protected me, but that was only because the armor had hard plastic on the outside that prevented my shoulder from touching. I still don't trust it, I just can't afford to replace both of my Fieldsheer jackets since I just bought them this season. I fixed the shoulder and I will continue to wear it, I just won't buy any more. Cheap Fieldsheer gear is still better than no gear though.

I also only used them for cheap fieldsheer products (got textile pants for $20 and textile jackets for $50)

sucks for the local guys who had a place to run to in a pinch to grab parts

Motorcycles 508 is going to take over.
They'll be very similar in the gear category, just no new bikes.

Really? When I bought my ZX I 1st shopped there then found it $1200 bucks cheaper somewhere else and yet they refused to budge on the price. That place sucked, surprised it took so long.

Got a brand new 2009 ZX6R in Feb of 2010 for $7300 OTD. I think that's as good a deal as I could have gotten anywhere. I asked them if they'd match a price I found on eBay at the sportbike dealer in Cherry Hill NJ (I guess they move a lot of bikes at low prices) and they came within $200 (they said due to the difference in shipping costs to MA vs NJ). They always treated me well in the sales, service and gear depts. Others may have had bad experiences, but I only had good ones.

I always was surprised they did not have the old school hard hats with the lights on them because with their prices you would have thought you walked into a gold mine.

Back in 97 they had a used Kawi ZX-7RR for sale. They wanted more money for it used than it sold for new. Their response was "Do you know hard it is to find one of these?".

    I say good riddance.
