    Broken stator cover bolt....

Co-worker has a 01' GSXR-750 and had been chasing a electrical problem for months. He pulled the stator cover to inspect it and when he put it back together the seal leaked. He pulled it apart replaced the seal and it leaked again. So he took it apart last night to clean the gasket surface arear and torqued the bolts to 13ft/lbs during re-assembly and snapped the top bolt on the cover. he has not removed the cover to see if it broke in the threads or if part of the bolt is exsposed.

Can anyone suggest a shop or person that may want to take a shot @ fixing this in metro west or central MA?

I would say its the Rectifier (gsxr issue) but testing the sytem would really tell and there should be enough left to get a set of vice grips on the stud and get it out...if not just drill it out or dremel a slice in the top and use a screw drive and back it out..

and have him just tighten them in a star pattern and snug them up with a quater turn....I have NEVER used and dumb torque specs shit

if he needs a rectifire here is a good source....

Center punch, left handed drill bit and I bet it pops right out. Doesn't sound stuck, just broken.

That was my suggestion, pull the cover and see if the thread is exposed and try vice grips. I should have mentioned in my first post that the rectifier/regulator and battery have been replaced and it appears to be charging and it's a 2002, off the ball this morning....

    Re: Broken stator cover bolt....

My guess is the torqued clicked and he did not hear it and kept turning....
Oh and he wanted $1000 yesterday, he walked in this morning and mentioned the broken bolt lowered the price to $500.....

Clean title, 2nd owner, original red/blk, never crashed/dropped, 20K miles (no speedo healer), new tires and new chain/sprocket set....

    Re: Broken stator cover bolt....

    Small update:

Kinda had a open purchase with my co-worker to buy the GSXR "bring the $500 and it's yours".
I was waiting to free up space in my storage unit, hence why I gave away some furniture a few weeks back. Co-worker comes in one day and tells me his brother came over the weekend and fixed the broken stator cover bolt, but the stator is junk.

My reply "cool I'll bring in the $500 @ lunch time".

His reply "ummmm, well I'm just going to keep the bike".

    My reply "thanks douche".

No not @ all, I just meant the gsxr pushed me a little to get the furniture out quicker than I anticipated.

Glad it worked out for her.
