25 miles away from home in downtown Dover NH, my brakes said "CLUNK" I was heading to Red's Shoe Barn to buy a new pair of boots, coming to a stop at the end of New York Street at Broadway right across from Red's
in Reds' sparking lot, I inspected the area of my rear caliper, didn't look right the caliper had rotated, memories of the drag link on my SV650 several years ago ensued when my caliper flew thru my wheel and made a 6" gash. Thankfully better design on the Vee, it appeared that scenario is unlikely
I bought my boots and proceeded home without using any rear brake, easier said than done, a thundershower broke out and rained buckets, visibility so that cars were stopping and pulling over, those that keep going had wipers on super high speed.
halfway home, I stopped at my son's house in Rochester and waited for the rain to let up
after an hour or so, it had let up, now dark I continued home. Ack! started raining hard again, about half way, as I am accelerating out of a corner I spot a deer out of the corner of my eye closer to the other side of the road, decides to continue to cross in front of me, plenty of time I say, but as my headlamp comes out of the lean and the bike is more upright, not 1, not 1, but 3 deer, a doe and 2 spotted fawns taking there time then the third one stops, as a matter of habit in emergency braking, the rear brake went clunk again
seems as though I have sheared the brake caliper stop off the swingarm
new swingarm is over $1k, luckily there are several on ebay for under $100
