It is kind of cool thought for a company to bring back something that they dropped 10 years ago to completely redesign a system and not bring back the old patten.

the way people hang on to hawks, and the popularity of them in racing after being out of production for so long is pretty amazing to me must a helluva bike.

Nice system. Just curious, but, is a Hawk superior in any way to an SV? How do they compare in mostly stock trim? I am not looking to start a flame war at all, just looking for clear, accurate information. I have often thought of getting one (either bike).

Hawk (Stock trim) VS SV ..my thoughts..
About the same weight
Hawk Turns quicker than any bike I've been on = better commuter bike in traffic
Smaller. Kind of like the old Tundra’s to a full size pick up 7/8 size. I know of people that are 6’7” and love em. I’m 5’10 and love em.
Shorter seat height
45-50 HP not as much as the SV but gets the job done for what I need.
Older technology but can adapt new technology (Suspension, Brakes, Wheels with modification)
5 speed (gearing change is for better Highway economy) Wish it had 6
Suspension is supple but easily remedied = same on the SV
125 MPH max
Easy as hell to work on and modify
Aluminum frame and swing arm (SSSA) COOL FACTOR
Cult bike
Bike 10years ahead of its time
55-60 mpg. 3.2 gallon tank. Range 175 miles

Where do I stop or did I just begin.


We have been begging Honda to come up with a newer version. They may be close as they came up with a new NT700V's It is basically the same engine with newer bits and technology. I'm hoping this is an engine modification test. for something else.

Is the range comparable? Better? Don't know what an SV gets. Guess it is the same. It is the same distance I would get with my 929 at 4.5 gallons

SV is a 6. Range is better IIRC (Hawk Tank is small but you can mount an F2/F3 tank with minimal mods.)

I don't think the Hawk is a great 2 up bike, unless you get better rear suspension. It is undersprung stock. The good thing is most people upgrade the rear.

The great thing about the Hawk is it's modability. You can literally bolt of a current 600rr front end, there is a TON of R&D done to make them faster/ more comfortable/ better range. That is the fun of owning a Hawk, you make it yours.

SV's have no soul, no history. They are good bikes but I like my bikes to have character.

Hawks are fairly rare to come across, but as described above are fantastic bikes.

As far as comparing the two.. stock vs. stock.. i mean your comparing an older bike that is out of production with a currently made bike that had a major update in 2003 including fuel injection (with minor revisions since then).

my buddy in England has a Hawk and he absolutly adores that thing, its a real blast to ride.

When was the last time they imported Hawks to the US again? 1993?

Actually, the Bros was only sold in Japan (but like Doc mentioned, it was available as a 400 or 650). The Euro market version was the Revere, which had a longer (ugly) rear end, and used a shaft drive.

Umm well there are ALOT of Bros in Europe and places other than Japan. Are you saying it is a Grey Market import?

No, its not considered a Hawk. Its considered a Revere. Which, like I said, is a 'version' of the Hawk...same frame, same engine, different ancillary components.
