Well I have de-flowered my helmet by dropping it when stopping for lunch today. It was like slo-motion retarded, instead of putting helmet on ground I decided to hang it on my mirror for some reason, only to watch it roll off the mirror and plop into the middle of the street with 3000 people walking by.
Dropping helmet from about 4' onto pavement with a 1x4 inch area scraped - would you question the helmet's integrity?
Who knew riding with a minor hangover would cost so much?![]()

Some might say ,, DONE !
There are probably studies to that fact as well ,,, but I say if no-one saw you do it ,,, it didn't happen![]()
what kinda lid? might be able to send it in & have the manufaturer check it out if you're concerned.

You can have them check it. KBC are a frowned upon helmet by a lot of people. In theory the if your melon isn't in the helmet when it hits up to a certain extent it should be ok.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
I have heard similar things about helmet drops vs. helmet in a crash.Originally posted by hessogood

This is an excellent helmet. It is lightweight, has great ventilation, is reasonably quiet, and fits my long oval bean nicely. I tried on many different helmets including the finest from Arai, Shoei, etc. and this one really fit me the best. And, it was on the discount rack at Brockton for $150.
Now for prettying up the scratched part of the helmet...I was considering a "If it has tits or wheels it will give you problems" sticker but might be a bit iffy when riding into the office![]()

Is just the clear scratched or is it dinged right down to the shell? Could always try wetsanding it or using one of those 3 step Novus plastic polish kits or something?![]()
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
A lot of the issues with helmets after a crash is that your head was in the helmet and the helmet did it's job by absorbing the momentum of your head. If your head wasn't in there there is no way that the foam was compressed. The outer shell cracking is another story, if that is cracked you are done.
Just what I understand about how a helmet works and why you should get rid of it when you crash!!

If you're only talking about one simple drop from the bars to the ground I wouldn't worry about it.
But like the others said, if your head was in the helmet while it hit the ground that is something all together different.
