Yip, I've gotten those too. They'd see me with my old race bike in the trailer or some shit. They always assume top speed around NHIS on a bike is like, 200 MPH...

BS Motorcycle owner wanna be experience

I was hanging out with some riders a few years ago and this one idiot (named Guy) came over and started telling us about Triumph's new project: a six-cylinder. Not knowing this guy was a total fuckhead, I asked him "Really? What size is it supposed to be?" "It's a six-cylinder, dude, don't tell anyone, though, OK? It's a secret project and it's still under wraps." He had this crazy-assed look on his face, but he seemed normal until then. So I asked if it was a going to be a V6 or an inline, and he said "No, man, it's a 6-cylinder! Don't you get it? Triumph's been working on it for years now, and I met this rep at a trade show, and he told me to keep it quiet, so don't tell anyone, cuz I don't want it getting back to me!" (The 'new Triumph' had only been around for a few years at this point, and they had no money to develop a new engine.) Now I was just annoyed, so I just promised silence and waited for him to leave. What a dick. Never saw him after that party, either. Triumph must have hired some goons to hunt him down.

So that's why Triumph never made that 6 cylinder bike I heard rumors of!

wow, all of those stories were great.

i have had a couple such experiences, my all time favorite being:

2005 in wal-mart parking lot, a kid on a '04 gsxr600 rides over to me and my '03 gsxr600. (flat black w/ no decals) and says "nice bike, what is it?"
    me; " its a 600"
    him: "yeah but what kind"
    me; a suzuki
    him " really?"what kind?"
me "wanna go for a ride?? "

    another is,
i ride into a gas station, the attendant has his stock '02 gsxr600 outside.

me "nice bike, i like the 1000 paint scheme you have.
him; "yeah i bought the new telefonica for the performance but paid a guy down south to repaint my fairings. so now i have all the extra performance with the color i really wanted."

i didnt have the heart to tell him what an IDIOT he was.

    keep these stories coming!haha.

Then there is the time I pull in to a gas station and the guy says "What kinda bike is that?"
    I say "It's a Ducati"
And he says "Who makes it?"

Me "Umm Ducati makes it. It is from Italy a 900 supersport"

Attendent "Never heard of em, I have a Harley"

    (Go figure)

    People are stupid.

Also reminds me of the time I bought my first Ducati, Took it over to show my Dad, (A Die hard Harley Biker, there is some insight on my upbrining huh?!)
He says (in all seriousness) "Get that Jap piece of crap outta here!"
I say "Dad come here and look at what it says on the gas tank (made in Italy)"
Dad "So what the tank is made in Italy"
Me "No the whole bike and it is a Twin!
Dad "Really? (as he starts to check the bike over) Who makes it?...
