Of the many 580-lb bikes I refuse to be interested in because they weigh 580 lbs, the NEW FUKKEN BUSA in the Black+Gold colorway has me questioning my desire to keep it light. These are supposed to be comfy, right? Like an FJR, uh, sorta...

Think of this class of bike (14R and Busa) as proper road going sport bikes. They aren't as comfortable as an FJR but they are a fair bit better than a super sport, particularly if you're tall. They drop their max road track performance for better road manners over the super sports. They also have loads more power than an FJR if that's your thing.

Still in first place for ugliest GSXR. This ‘new’ one is a true double bagger.

this +100 i felt the same way about my vfr1200f. and since then big bore sporty bikes are amazing on the road. and i could toss my leathers on and still drag knees like it was my job, one of my best rides ever was with a couple of buddies and we went to mt Washington for the night, gen1 and gen 2 busa and a k1200s and my vfr1200. couldn't have had a better bunch of bikes to blast to NH and back in a night.

That is a very pricey price .

I have bought 3 New Hayabusa's in my lifetime and never paid over 9900 out the door, they were all Gen 1's , but nearly double the price 18 years later leaves a sour taste in my mouth .

I would be comfortable at 15000 out the door , guees I am waiting till next January before I can start dickering for a new one .

Oh hey, good news, they made it look like less like a giant steaming pile!

But they didn't exactly set the bar high with the Gen 2 now, did they?

Gen 1 is still the only one doesn't deserve a hot turd laid right on the gas tank, and only just barely.

Pete's right, they are and always will be ugly AF. It's the view from the cockpit that matters though. That and the rear view mirrors are where the magic happens.

18k is a lot of scratch but it's a modern ugly take on an iconic bike, what do you expect? My only issue is that they didn't bring the hurt with some HP, this is a Busa after all. I would have a lot more respect for the new bike if it put 200 plus to the wheel.

I was going to say they were going for about 10.5k by me in 02 or 03. I know its a long time ago but still.
I paid $8800otd for my new 01 gsxr 750 for reference.

I cant see dropping that much coin for a regular bike. Too much techno wizardry for my tastes too. Maybe if it had the long rumoured turbo and 200hp i would serioisly look at it.

    Re: BUSA: not dead afterall

02 was a long time ago. Things aren't cheap anymore lol. A 2 liter was 99 cents or 75 on sale. They're 2 bucks now. My gsxr 750 was 12300 otd with a helmet and stands, and that was the absolute cheapest one I could find in 2016.

I'm not saying it isn't pricey but that's just kind of the direction things are going.
