Would you buy a bike with no title?

Found a 09 fz6 for sale out in NY that i'm considering buying. only thing is it doesn't have a title but the seller is a very reputable guy. I'm thinking about buying the bike and updating my 06 with the parts so essentially I'll have a 09 bike on my 06 title. also thinking about either throwing my 06 parts on the other bike and either keeping it for track, selling, or just parting out any left other stuff. Any thoughts or suggestions??

It would depend on the situation and title status/history. Do a VIN check.

Ask yourself this, why would an 09 NOT have a title? If you're comfortable with your answers and you "think" the seller is reputable, then buy it.
Would I buy it? No way!!

Run the vin. I find it odd that an 09 doesn't have a title. In NY the owner even has the title when there is a lean on the bike it just states that there's a lean on it. No excuse as to why he doesn't have one unless he is just unorganized and lost it but even then.....

    ya here's the original post...

    "
    2009 FZ-6, blue
    6500 miles
    Puig screen
    Oxford heated grips
    Comfort seat
Two Brothers Racing alloy cans and fender eliminator
    NO TITLE
$1500-1650 depending on what you want on it.

Bought this off a really flaky guy in NYC. He had registration papers in his name, but had to send away for a duplicate title. Then between moving, losing his job, etc. he's never actually gotten the title to me... I've been chasing him up for a few months, but I'm tired of it now. I'm too busy to part the damn thing, so thought I'd try to sell it whole.

You can have it as it sits for $1650 or $1500 without the Two Brothers cans (would come with stock cans).

DMV have confirmed to me that the seller was the owner (no liens) and the numbers are clear, so if you live in a state like California that will do CHP inspections or PA that will allow a court to assign titles, you can be riding this thing legally within a couple of weeks, two days in California. I have bill of sale document to share, and am happy to sign an affidavit if you need me to. I just think the thing is too nice to go to the breakers. But hell, if you want to part it for cash, that's your business. With two toddlers, parting out motorcycles is a hobby I don't have time for.

Pick up in Westchester County, NY or we can arrange shipping however you want. Don't bother with lower offers. I've got a breaker in NY who'll pay my ask, and a brother in California to whom I can ship the bike for $400 and who'll sort the title for me, but I'm just tired of seeing the thing at this point."

No way. Price is too low and that story just runs around.

ya I think I'm gonna tell the guy thanks but no thanks, the seller was part of the Subaru Racing Team. He was Travis Pastrana's Co-pilot so that's why I assume he isn't trying to scam someone out of cash.

Its totally legit. As long as you use western union to pay and the address is in Nigeria, you can rest assured, its safe.

I just bought a bike with no title. I have no issue with it. It sounds like a good deal to me if it isn't a scam. But, there is only one way to find out.

Run the VIN Carfax etc and maybe stop @ your local PD and ask them to run it for you also....
