Question Where to Buy Good Gloves?

My wife (bless her heart) has offered to buy me a pair of motorcycle golves for our anniversary.

I've been wearing my Reusch leather ski gloves, which are comfortable, warm, and look great. However, they are starting to wear through the palms, and I have serious doubts that they would hold up well in a crash. I'm sure they'd offer more protection than having no gloves, but they definitely weren't designed for sliding on pavement or absorbing heavy impacts.

I've been looking at different gloves on various websites, but I'd really like to try several pairs on and see the gloves in person before I buy them. I'd also like to support local motorcycle shops, assuming that their prices aren't unreasonable compared to mail order.

Where in southern New Hampshire or Northern Mass can I find a shop that stocks a good selection of gloves? Ideally, I'd like to find a place that's open today (Sunday), as it looks like a great day for a ride.

Finally, any suggestions on which gloves to buy? My wife says she's willing to spend $100, so I'm hoping to stay in that price range.

    Thanks!

    Where to Buy Good Gloves?

MotoMarket in Acton, MA carries good gloves. I know they carry Held gloves (I bought some there); but the really good stuff from Held is like $200. Held does make a model #2220 glove ('ninja') that runs about $100, though, and looks pretty good.

MotoMarket is open 9-4 today. It's a pretty cool place to check out if you haven't before.

My suggestion would be to visit as many shops as possible in your area. I've been wearing Teknic's Violators for years now, and they've always held up well...

Your best bet for actual purchasing is without a doubt www.newenough.com They even have several sizing charts to help you...

Be sure to sign up for their email updates too. You'll find INCREDIBLE deals on new merch with them...

Gloves I like to try on. They don't all fit the same. Hence, my Moto Market recommendation.

I'm sure he'll come back happy.

    Happy indeed!

The folks at Moto Market were very helpful in assisting me in picking out a good set of gloves. I ended up with a pair of sweet Gericke's that have some sort of Goretex-like material in them to help keep out the rain. Granted they are not top-of-the-line Held's or Alpinestars, but they are miles better than the ski gloves I was wearing.

It was my first visit to the shop. Very cool place, with a great selection of helmets, jackets, pants, etc. Everything was neatly and orderly arranged, and I was especially surprised by the number of riders just hanging around. Moto Market has gone out of their way to create a rider-friendly atmosphere, and judging by the crowd (about 20-30 bikes were parked outside) it appears to be working.

Pretty cool business idea. I wonder why there aren't more of these types of shops in other areas. I imagine that such a shop would do great somewhere on Route 100 in Vermont, or maybe up near the Kanc in New Hampshire.

Let us know how the gore-tex in the gloves ends up working...

If I could get some gore-tex gloves and they work great I would be one step closer to ditching my rain gear.

Ah yes another good business idea for mc;s, but seasonal..

Paul and his wife have done an excellent job with MotoMarket, I really like the place. They sell top of the line equipment so yes the prices are high. You get what you pay for! I bought a nice pair of Gortex HELD gloves for winter riding there, they are awsome! Also purchase a pair of Daytona boots. Love those as well!! So if you dont mind paying for good gear MM is the place to go!

I saw Paul in the Van drive by myself and our riding crew at the Junction of 103 & 100 in VT by Okemo, that was wierd after starting our ride from his shop this morning!!!

It's funny you should mention that. I think I saw the same van in Fitzwilliam NH on Rte 119 in today around 4pm or so.

Hawks I'm guessing? I got a pair of those there. Sweet gloves. Used them this morning as a matter of fact. It was chilly out there.

Actually I have the Narvik glove. They were out of the Hawks, at least in my size, when I went down there (October of last year). I like the Narviks, they're just a bit bulky.
