My first thought was e-mail harvesting. Capture a bunch of people's email addresses (because that is the only method of contact in the ad) and sell them or spam them or whatever else kids do these days

I saw that a few weeks ago. Not the usual bike for spamming and the deal is not extremely off from other bikes. I think it's just a really good deal.

I believe it. I've heard that near the end of the run Honda had trouble moving them. I've heard reports of people picking them up 2-3 years old in "new, unsold" condition for $6500. That and sometimes people just want shit out of their way. I have some stuff in this house I can relate with.

Yes, I have been following this bike as well for a friend, but he doesn't want a VFR. It is a great deal. Seems real. The 2007 models often sat for years and did have excellent discounts (I remember seeing a RWB model for $7999 new). I have this bike and it is truly a great all around bike. Very comfortable with excellent range, handling and quality components. In my biased opinion, much better as a whole than the specs may suggest.

I beg to differ. My instincts are telling me that this is phony. I was looking at a 2013 Ninja 300 on CL for $2600 to convert to a track bike. Long story short the whole ad was a scam and I got my hopes up. Haha. Let me know if this VFR turns out to be legit.

The phony ones have sometimes have grainy pictures and list phone numbers with area codes that are out of state. They are also absurdly cheap. I'd bet that this is legit. Craigslist anonymizes email addresses sent through them, so that's a non issue.

Email harvesting? You are aware that Craigslist uses an email relay in which your real email address is never actually revealed, right?

CL doesn't have webmail built in, you email the CL address and it routes it through. They don't see your email address at all. The only downside is that once you delete a listing you can't continue to correspond.

Looks perfectly legit. Thats what I paid for mine with 2000 miles on it this spring and mine had hard bags.
