Re: So. I called the police with my stolen bike VIN#

haha, its OK man. I got my health and strength, I cant really complain. Oh and by the way I was calling about my first bike (f4i) that was stolen like 8 months ago. Not the new RR.

    question though.

suppose they stole my bike and take it out of state. If they ran the vin at the DMV, what would it come back as? Are all of the DMV's linked?

yes they are if it is entered into the national database.

once u run the plate or vin it will come up stolen and then tell the person running it what department entered stolen

I think I'm misunderstanding. You had a bike stolen. You reported it stolen. You then call the police and RMV some time later and they say the VIN is clean?

Did you already check out carfax just for grins? (or is there no bikes on there, I never remember)

If you filed a claim with an insurance company and they paid $$ for it, I assume they might be interested to know it's "clean" ?? maybe...

Re: So. I called the police with my stolen bike VIN#

assuming you filed a total loss theft claim and received a payout, it's possible the bike has already been recovered. if so, the bike's VIN has been (correctly) removed from the NCIC stolen vehicle list and the insurance company likely sold or auctioned the recovered bike to mitigate their loss.

keep in mind you likely would not be notified about the recovery in the above situation, as you no longer hold a stake in the property.
