I considered posting this in the Maintenance section, but its not so much about the actual work done, but is mainly my intention to thank Ryan publicly for all his recent help working on my bike. Starting with a DID chain and sprocket replacement back in May, all the way to yesterday when we wrapped up the final touches on valve shim and CCT replacements to troubleshooting a nagging bad coil and carb jet problem, among other work. Not to mention a visit from our local Officer Friendly cuz neighbors were complaining of a loud motorcycle engine being revved....at night....well past the 5 pm curfew on excessive noise...LMAO!! Ryan took time out of his busy schedule during the week(s), coming over after work to keep this project moving along, and also a few saturdays, etc. Ryan taught me a lot not only by working with me but by also explaining things to me so that I feel confident to do more work on my bike other than normal maintenance. His work was thorough and he took pains to redo some things in the name of checking and rechecking things to eliminate possible problems. In particular was my badly running carb set up. Turns out #4 cylinder wasnt firing properly, if at all. So we replaced the coil and cleaned out the slow jets which turned out to be clogged. He unselfishly loaned me his coil til I get a new replacement. And we switched out the coil and plug wires til we determined what the problem was. And thats just the short list of what we did. Only by his being patient and tenacious did the problem get solved. So now...the bike runs like it hasnt in years, and all the original power has been restored. Anyway, a lot of work went into the many things we ended up doing to my bike, and I feel very thankful to Ryan for all his help and instruction. He repeatedly refused compensation beyond our original agreement, despite going above and beyond with all his extra efforts....until finally I said "Fuck you!" to him yesterday and made sure he took my offering. You cant put a dollar figure on knowledge like that and the willingness to help. So, thanks again, bro!!
PS....maybe we'll do those progressive springs this fall!
