Car v. Motorcycle, Rt 7, Vermont

Serious crash snarls morning commute on Route 7: Rutland Herald Online

Video coverage of the aftermath does show the bike, but no real details in the text. Doesn't look particularly good based on the condition of the vehicles involved (or on the whole road being closed in the aftermath of the crash).

Oww, that really sucks and I hate to say this, but it doesn't look good for the rider.

for what its worth, that was a Kawasaki Versys.

Versys, you can tell my the lay down shock on the throttle side and the headlight. (I used to own a 650r, which is the same platform/layout as the versys)

Damn. Rt 7's not even a very tricky road. I wonder what precipitated the crash. Looks like the bike got rear-ended.

Hope the rider's going to be okay.

that Volvo's hood was seriously fucked up -- not sure if that was from the impact with the bike or hitting the dirt berm, but it must've been a hard impact either way...

hope the rider managed to pull through ok/mostly unhurt/bruised/minor injuries/alive

I still haven't heard anything on this. I'm assuming if there were serious injuries or a fatality it would have been all over the news. Because it hasn't been, i'm taking that as good news for the rider.

    Whoa there.... Hold the horses.......

    CORRECTION!!!

The motorcycle did not flip over repeatedly, the man on the motorcycle flipped over and skid across the pavement after colliding with the car.

Turns out the rider is one of my friend's father. He is at Dartmouth in critical condition, bad head injury. My mom works at the 'hospital' and she just called to tell it was him and updated me on his status. This is surreal. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers and hope he pulls through.

Man - best of luck to the rider. That's scary! There aren't many places to go if you're in traffic and about to get rear-ended. I hope the fellow comes out of it OK!

That car must have just driven through the motorcycle and creamed the truck in front. That's a huge amount of damage to the front end of that car.

Ouch! Hope the rider gets well soon!

The car also took down a street sign. I am surprised it doesn't say anything about what made the collision happen. Did the biker brake too suddenly and the car rear ended him or did the car did not see him at all!
