If this is, in fact, a job that one NESRian will score, then should we not open up the hiring process to the rest of NESRland? What I'm trying to say is that NESR should be the one to choose who NESR sends as a possible candidate for this lucrative opportunity. Perhaps a sort of "primary vote" to narrow it down so that only the "crème de la crème" of writers are actually exposed to the outside world. Use NESR to your advantage, there are a lot of smart people here who would be happy to vote on the preliminary entries. Maybe it wouldn't be an open vote. Maybe you put together a panel of elders and selectmen to vote in the primary. I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out there. That's who I am... an idea man. If people want ideas, they come to me. Unfortunately, my full time gig pays way too much money and I am far too lazy to hit the ground running and do the legwork to make this opportunity valuable in any way, shape or form. Also, my writing style is a unique blend of action and semi-fiction. And believe it or not, semi-fiction doesn't go over well in a press release (ask me how I know!).

Well there you go... I've planted some seeds. Let's see if someone can dump some manure on them so the NESRian community can sit back and watch these seeds grow faster and taller than Jack's phallic beanstalk!

I've gotten a couple submissions already and hope to get the rest by the weekend. Would like to read them on the plane to and from Miller so I can have some final candidates to put in front of Barry by Monday.

I happened to have lunch with John Ulrich of Roadracing World yesterday (one of the primary sites that will always post up press releases) and I brought up this NESR/Celtic Talent Search thing and he was wicked stoked on it. Thought it was a great idea to give someone a shot and seemed jazzed up to see what it would produce. Was cool to get feedback like that from someone of John's stature..

Thanks Dan. Main reason why I'd share is b/c guys seem to enjoy and b/c I loved growing up and reading the same stuff from folks who were there. We're all a small bunch of pals here. Some of the haters were getting me down but fuck it, there will always be haters who think you're 'trying to look cool'. I view it as a bunch of dudes bench racing in the garage and sharing stories!
