I've been doing a lot of riding the last two weeks, and the cops are out like angry bees. I've even seen folks pulled over in places where I never saw police, like route 22A. Caused me a bit of sweat when through cosmic convergence I happened to be doing 90-95 when I saw a car by the side of the road. Eased off the throttle and he never came after me so that was my stupid move for the month.

Here in MA I was driving my company car (Chevy Malibu) at to no more than 5mph over the posted 40mph limit on a heavily patrolled two-lane road when I got passed on the double yellow by a punk in a Servicemaster minivan. Stupid bastard, never pass an old man with a voice-activated Bluetooth cell phone when you have your employer's phone number and your company truck's ID number painted in big letters on your vehicle.

I didn't call the cops, but there's a decent chance he's looking for a new job.

    KA CHING

Before the 72 ? gas crisis state speed limits were 50 or 55 anywhere out of town. They recognized that the purpose of the roads were the rapid movement of people and goods, not revenue enhancement (theft)

I am surprized that in an age where we think pot should be legallized the sheeple directly screwed by this situation just quietly accept this. EVERYBODY believes these speed limits are a bullsh*t con game, and yet no action.

If you dont like the bogus trafic laws "no victim no crime". Everyone has a right to travel, send your lic and reg back to the dmv and ride out. As long as you not using roadways for commerce, your traveling not driving. Good luck explaining that to one of the glorified tax collectors pulling you over for no plate though.

The last sentence is the key. I like the idea, but that's a futile approach in real life.

There are lots of similar ideas on various issues, hinging on some obscure legal twitch or other, and most of them are probably technically correct. But they all share a flaw, and that is the assumption that the legal system gives a rat's ass about the rules, even if they are their own rules. It doesn't, and they don't.

Real purpose of all laws is to generate legal fees

Are you sure it isn't a ploy by the tin foil companies to get you to make more tin foil hats?
