carrying motorcycle in minivan?

    carrying motorcycle in minivan?

Are the seat hooks or seatbelt attachment points strong enough to use at tie-down points?

also, does anyone know if the square-shaped metal hooks in the rear corners are strong enough to ratchet the bike down to?

also, any other general tips for hauling a motorcycle in a minivan?

I'm really excited that this might work

I don't see why that wouldn't work. All of those hooks are typically attached to solid structural members.

Yea if it holds the seat in durning an accident you should be able to strap to it.

so are the factory, hardened plastic tie-down hooks ok?

I'm a little weary because they're made of plastic, and look like they're held down by more plastic:

but this might be my only option because in the back, the rear seat actually stows away, and covers up any seat attachment points in the rear; plus the rear seatbelt attachment points are too far forward and too narrow to loop a hook through

I'm all set in the front, but I want to make sure I get the rear right because they take a whole lot of pressure when I'm braking...

EDIT: is anyone else besides Kham going to tell me how cool this is? doesn't anyone else finally accept minivans as being cool because it'll allow me to get to the track day, at 22mpg to boot? technicalities and logistics aside, I'm pretty excited that I've pretty much got a free bike-carrier option at my disposal

Ouch, thats all you got to strap down to in the back? You might be okay since the front is heavier. Just ratchet the front down a bit tighter and use the back just as insurance.

My dad had a Ford Aerostar that we hauled my Monster back from NYC in. It worked perfect. The seat attachments and seat belt attachments should be more than rugged enough - they are designed to restrain at least a couple hundred pound person in the event of an accident, right? It's a great enclosed transport, that's easy to load because it's so low. And they say minivans are for soccer moms....

Bob Stone does it all the time with this race HAWK. He was able to roll it right in from the back. That was until the company got him a newer one. Now he loads it in from the side.

That is pretty cool, if you can't strap the rear the front should be OK. Maybe a stand will help on the or around the rear tire. One can probably be made out of 2x4s.
