You will break it big boyI have a brother who is special needs(slow, semi-retarded..what have you) that i would like to take for rides...he's a big boy...probably around 400lbs... plus I think it would eb a neat addition to the stable. There is a guy in RI who has a valkyrie with a side car that his brother drives his electric wheelchair onto....pretty trick.
So I'm wondering if a store bought one would suffice or if I'll need to fabricate one strong enough.

Guy in CT has a Kawasaki Concours with a sidecar that is really a wheelchair ramp for his son who is a wheelchair pilot.
Rolls in, lift the ramp and they are good to go. It was special made by a welder who knows his sidecar dymanics. Very cool.

Possibly the best way to get into a quality sidecar unit without being mechanically overwhelmed.
Plus they are just so fucking cool.
With my old rig now in Florida, one of these will be in my garage in a year or so for sure.

putting the kids in a custom sidecar attached to a zx-10r.. sounds like a brilliant idea!
It says those sidecars are for 1000 cc's and up...so what would be the problem? Are they being specific on which models of bikes you CAN'T attach some of those sidecars to?ANd I think some of them can carry up to 400 or 500 pounds. My kids only weights about 120-130 pounds togueter.
edit: Note that I am NOT crazy about the idea of putting kids in a sidecar in the first place, and I do think it would look silly attached to a ZX-10...they look cooler attached to a nice tourer, like the yellow one in those pics.

The ZX-10R won't TURN with that sidecar on it. You would need a leading link front end or at the very least an Easy-Steer for the forks.
Plus - the 10R frame has to be able to support some of the rig itself and you will need a minimum of three mounting points with four being preferable.
The 10R would need some serious work to become a sidecar rig for sure.

i guess it's all how you look at it. i think i'd prefer to have my kids, if i had any, in a 20 year old rusted out fiero bombing through red lights.. but that's just me.
I see. Yes, I am ignorant about that stuff, so thank you for explaining....lolOriginally posted by Karaya One

I think he said he wants to eventually sell his ZX-10 (again???) and get a Goldwing. Altho some of them are real nice bikes, I thought we'd still be enjoying the sportbikes for a few more years... I just don't see myself sitting on the back of a Goldwing just yet...maybe when I'm in my late 40's...but I'm still young and I'll keep riding my 500 or upgrade to a 600 eventually. *sigh*

I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
Ok. I'm an idiot...(yeah you already knew that) He said he was talking about buying a sidecar in the eventuality that he would get a Goldwing...he didn't specify that tho when he was talking about buying a sidecar yesterday....lol
