no big deal, I was making a left hand turn at a light, prolly going about 20-25mph, it's froggy, drizzly, rain here today, temps are mid 30's, SV has been sputtering a bit, carb icing? Anyway, I was leaned over quite a bit, new pavement and some puddles about 1/2" deep. next thing I know, a tug on my helmet, my radar detector speaker chord snapped, the SV is sliding over to the edge of the road, no serious damage, broke my brand new KLR handguard:-(, toe bar snapped of shifter, road rash on my bar end mirror (matches the road rash on the other side from ny 70mph lowside a year and a half ago), a barely noticable skuff on my leather saddlebag and road rash on the thermostat for my electric vest (vest & thermostat still work fine).
A friend of mine was in a truck right behind me, he jumped out to help, we picked the bike up, I rode it to adjacent parking lot and checked stuff out. I had a spare shifter in saddlebags but decided to ride 15 miles home without changing it, with GP shifting it was easy to shift up thru gears, but I got proficient at downshifting by the time I got home, oh yea, I stopped at my dealer in the way home and ordered new handguard
I'll prolly have time to swap my shifter today
