Well its not as easy to find sprockets for my bike as you may think. Since its a 86' I dont get a huge selection, In fact I am planing up goping up a tooth on the rear I have only been able to find listings for 1 tooth higher then stock (16/45)
Unless you guys know of some better site's

There is a good chance you can get the sprocket that you want,

    Check this page:

    http://www.sprocketspecialists.com/html/honda7.shtml

or e-mail them at: info@sprocketspecialists.com to find out.

second line is for the VFR 700 87 (if the sprocket is the same)

    rear sprocket

    standard 45
    alum. 38-71 teeth
    steel 42/44/46 teeth

    front
    standard 16
    steel 12-18 teeth

The titan tough coating is an extra $10 and makes it a special order. So it takes about two weeks to get the sprocket with the coating. They also give you the choice of D.I.D or RK chains.

    This is from their catalog....
    "Free Sprocket Offer
All standard alloy rear sprockets will be shipped the next
working day or they are free. Most orders will be shipped
same day or the next working day."

Of course if it is special order this doesn't apply....

If you like BLING, BLING you can get the sprockets color anodized for an extra $30.

    Hope this helps

    Which chain to buy??

Give these guys a call Parts Depot (1-800-245-3101). My buddy just bought all that stuff for his 86 VFR700 and it was $135 shipped (chain and sprockets). They deal in Kawi, Suzuki, and I believe Triumph, but they do all brands in aftermarket. Very good to deal with, give them a try.

That sounds like a "too good to be true" deals...For that cost I would question the quality......

He got the EK or RK x-ring chain 530 (don't remember which brand it was exactly) and Sunstar sprockets. Bike is in really nice shape for the age. I like the DID x-ring myself but a little more $$$. They have the best prices I've seen around on oem and most aftermarket as well. They are in New Jersey and have most on your door step in 5 days or less.

Since being a new owner of a RC26 (86' vfr 700) I'm inrested in almost any other on I find cause they aint many around. It would be nice to have a parts bike although I dont need that many and depending on the condition,deal,etc...
But see what yo can find out bout it for me

He went with stock oem gears. I have a 43 brand new Sunstar if your interested. I order one for mine but they sent a 530 instead of a 52o (and no it wasn't from Parts depot). I was at Stonnerstock on Saturday, I did the 6th gear burnout (see avatar) and another 4th gear burnout and then the tire popped so I spent alot of the time changing that while I was there so I didn't see to many people.

Kinda all depends.... I can use a new upper head lite fairing, lowers too (if in good shape). Regulator rectifier, If its a 87 then it should have a 17" front wheel rather then a 16" which I'm stuck with. I'd consider that..

Not sure if it would fit, I would think they are all pretty much the same. My friend paid $40 for his 45t rear sproket, $23 for the front 16t and $70 for the chain 110 links, $30 for the 43t and it's sold.

Dropping 2 teeth in the front isn't very wise...Unless yu wanna wear your chain out faster....Plus it takes more power to get it around....so what you save on weight you loose on trying to "Hammer" that chain around a very small sprocket..

AFAM, by far is the best Chain Sprocket set out there...I've smoked a lot of chain sets....The 520 set on my tiller has gone 16,000 miles and still got some left in it, and I don't baby that bike....

I agree Mark. I dont think its good too drop down on the front. I'm gonna just go up 2-3 teeth on the rear and go with a new 16 on the front.
