    Chain lube

What type of chain lube is everyone using?
I am trying to find something that properly lubricates the chain and will not make a mess on my chrome wheels. I have been using "Chain Wax" It seems to do a decent job, although I don't care for the look of the white film it leave on the chain. Any suggestions ?

chain wax. However it seems it takes an act of congress, the house and canadian parliament to clean the shit off.

Engine Bright works good to clean it, but I am sure its not the best for the chain or the envrionment. But hell what is.

I like Maxima brand wax. Never noticed any white stuff on the chain. Might want to try it. Seems transparent to me.

    Talking Try Motul Chain Oil

    Change over to

I used to use the wax until my tire man looked at it and went YUK!

The wax picks up all the street grunge and it sticks. Then, as you drive, the grunge gets forced into the critial moving points along the chain. Not Good!

Tire guy cleaned and scrubbed my chain with brush, WD-40 and paper towels until it shined all around and appeared krispy clean. Then he sprayed on the oil and I ain't nary seen no dirt no time no how after duzo miles.

Thet reminds me that I have to get another can at MotorMarket at this evening's gathering.

Oh! Yeah! The first thing I do when I return from a ride is to spray the chain while it is hot/warm and undoubtebly a bit stretched at the joints. Right after, the rear tire just spins and spins and spins

I haven't ever had to brush the chain again after a year.

I use kerosene and small brush to clean the chain. I think WD-40 is just kerosene with a carrier agent. Does the job well.

I use Motorex 622 Chain lube. Yeah, it does get a white film if I put too much on, but you don't really need much; just a light spray on inside of chain directed at O-rings is all you need. I also do it after rides since chain is warm and thirsty.
After spraying, a rub down with cloth removes excess.

Does Motul or Motorex 622 come off when riding.
I don't want to spend all of my day cleaning my rims.

Good info about the wax, never thought about it collecting the road grime.

    Thumbs up Motul Answer

I don't believe I see any real mess. The stuff seems to stick. Besides, if it were a crappy product, would they still be advertizing with gigantic signs in the background of Grand Prix racing?

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

I wouldn't say listening to milli vanilli dates one, so much at it reveals one's complete lack of taste in music

I clean the chain with Dubbya-D, and then wax it. If the wax is flinging off, you're probably using it incorrectly. I have absolutely no problems with the wax and I've been using it for years...

I apply AFTER just about every ride that's over 100 miles. I get home, let the chain cool for about 10-15 minutes, then apply a light coat of the wax. I let it 'set in' til the next ride...

    Flinging wax?
Maybe that explains the stink-eye I get from passers who're mysteriously running their wipers on sunny days...

I spray chain once for every tank of gas, unless I fill it more then once while out.
