So I have a chance to do something cool...

"Driving Task Force NCO: The Combat Readiness/Safety Center (CR/SC) Ft. Rucker Alabama, is in need of a Staff Sergeant/ Sergean First class.

Duration: 1 year assigned/attached to the Combat Readiness Safety Center, Ft Rucker Alabama.

Scope of Duties: Perform duties as a Driving Task Force NCO and act as a liaison between the United States Army; the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and various Motorcycle Mentorship Programs in the Army to enable better communication with our target audience the 25 to 40 plus year old Sport Bike enthusiast. This NCO will require an in-depth knowledge of motorcycling and sport bike riding. This NCO should already possess a valid motorcycle endorsement and have completed an MSF certified Basic Rider Course and Experienced Rider Course, rider coach training would be a plus but is not required. This NCOs primary duty will be to visit motorcycle training throughout the United States Army to gain information on safe riding practices and provide mentorship from a peer perspective. Provide motorcycle accident staffing input, capable of research, trend analysis, preparing numerous briefings, presentations, Capable of, but not limited to, writing articles on motorcycle mentoring, group riding and safe motorcycling
practices for Task Force Newsletters and Knowledge magazine."

I am working on details (the moving to Ft Rucker might be a deal breaker) but I would LOVE to do this job and have been reccomended for the position. As long as I don't have to move this could be a REALLY great thing for me.

    Keep your fingers crossed.

If I had the chance to do something like this when I was still in the Marines, I would have jumped all over it. That sounds like a great position with a lot of responsibility that could lead further into motorcycle safety industry careers.

As long as you will be allowed to make an effort to influence riders to not do stupid shit on the street, and encourage participation at closed-course venues, it could be a good gig? Maybe via sponsorship of some track days? Start up a supermoto team as a case study? ha! Just as long as your efforts won't ultimately be contributing to the gathering of data that eventually will be used to prove that motorcyling is too dangerous for the average spode, it could be cool. Unfortunately, all too often a false premise is used to influence participation in those types of number-crunching exercises that have a desired outcome from the onset.

Nope, from what I understand there are a bunch of cruiser type higher ranking older guys in charge of this program and they want some younger blood to relate to the sportbike community to help to better understand it. This is a "Riders" group. Not a bunch of unknowing politicians.

That's pretty cool. I'd be down for that.

Thinking about doing the MSF RCP next year. Gotta look into the time commitment & take that into consideration though.
