Cheap imported bike parts for a track beater

Looking around at parts for my second oldest bike in the fleet. It'll be of drinking age shortly. Bike isn't worth throwing big money into for Vortex rearsets (Woodcraft doesn't have them), a Scotts/GPR damper, clip-ons, etc.

Tons of the cheap Chinese knock-offs out there.

    Rearsets for $90.

Steering dampers for about $100-$150 with brackets.

    Clip-ons for $50.

Anyone have any experience with these things? Lots of good reviews. Not expecting high quality stuff, just good enough for it's suited purpose.

With the caveat that this is a track day/instructing bike you're not going to be tossing down the road frequently, I would have no issue installing cheap-o hard parts.

    Steering damper....probably not.

I got cheap ebay clipons for my superhawk and I've crashed 3x with them, no bends, breaks, etc. They were the cheapest ones you could buy, like $25 on ebay for the set. I replaced the hardware with grade 8 machine screws from mcmaster or similar because the hardware they came with started to strip.

In general, I think the cheap chinese stuff is fine as long as you replace all the nuts and bolts, especially on weight-bearing components.

I know a bunch of quick guys down in Jersey that praise flea-bay rearsets for their bikes with no mechanical malfunctions outside of the poor quality fasteners.
