Anyone have one of those Chinese knock off scooters?

Was thinking about getting a cheap scooter to leave in NH at my GF's cabin. Just something to take for a quick blast to the store or get a quick fix in the wind with. I see the cheap Chinese scooters going for cheap $$ brand new in the 150cc size and they hit about 50 mph which is plenty for what I want with it. But I am scared of these cheap scooters, are they just that? Cheap pieces of shit, or not too bad for a keep in the shed type of toy that will come out once in a while.

Have Bikes inspected at these guys, one of the biggest scooter dealers in the country. Buddy seems to be the most popular, and they don’t come back often with problems. They’re about $1,000 less than a Honda 150.

Re: Anyone have one of those Chinese knock off scooters?

my GF has a cheap no name 49cc scooter she bought nearly new for $300 (had less than 10 miles on it), it easily does 40mph on flat and is downright scary on a steep downhill. Fits more in it's luggage than I can fit in the Pelican 1550 cases on my V-strom (between the 2 of us, we can bring home a heaping grocery cart full ) It gets about 160 mpg, when she first got it, she commuted back and forth from work for a month and it died on her just short of our driveway....... It wasn't till I asked her when was the last time she put gas in it that she said she had NEVER put gas in its tiny 0.9 gal tank, fired right up with gas in it.

Thanks but not looking for another motorcycle, my Ducati 900ss is sitting the the shed unused for the past couple of years. Thinking the scooter route is what I want to keep up there for occasional trips.

Just took a look at their site and the scooters they carry are not cheap, 2-3k for a basic scooter. The cheap Chinese ones I was looking at were about $800 bucks for a 150cc brand new.

I bought a used Yamaha vino 125 for $1200 a few years back. It’s seriously the most fun thing in my garage.

the drawback to the no name scooters is consistency in parts, you can have 2 sitting side by side that don't have the same carb, something goes south, you may end up replacing the whole engine

after owning my Kymco UTV, I would go with a Kymco, a little less expensive than more known name brands, and still a good parts & service network

The work the my Kymco UTV does is unbelievable, ask Stoneman

I know, that is what got me thinking about getting one. It may be a disposable scooter, but for the price it is hard to not consider.
