Collection of articles - Something for NEW & EXPERIENCED Riders alike!

I recently spent a good amount of time digging up a whole bunch of links to different articles for a post over on another forum full of newbs... Hopfully it wasn't time wasted. Anyway, I figured i'd post it over here as well since i've seen/found/read quite a few good articles I thought a wide range of people could benefit from in the community.

I'll try & put them in some kind of sensible order from entry level to advanced to trackday to racer, but most of these articles apply to what we all do on the street in some way or another so check em all out. Some of the information may be contradictory, but take your time, read as much or as little as you like, try out different things & see what works for you.

Of course, feel free to add links of your own... hopfully this will become a sticky & the number of links will continue to grow.

Disclaimer: Not everything below works for me, nor do I agree w/ everything these people say, but two wheels is two wheels and there's no doubt that we can all learn more about our sport. It never ceases to amaze me how much there is to learn about motorcycling and that's just one reason why I'm in love w/ the sport as much as I am.

    Enjoy.

Even tho this site is less frequently visited, I would recommend reading www.sportriders.com tips and advices before some other local website, specially to a newbie. Lots of good info from experienced riders (and MSF instructors), and a much better influence on new riders. Just my unworthy 0.02

Good job at putting those links togueter.

That body positioning article always bugs me too, cause it seems like it's more about getting your knee down to "look cool" as opposed to the correct technique...

Which of those pictures is closest to correct?

To my eye "correct" would seem to be about halfway between their "Rider hanging off below the bike" and "Rider crouched right down.

I know I've read over and over again you shouldn't be inline with the bike's center line and your head should not be looking through the windscreen. As stupid as it is on the street lately if I feel like hanging off I've been making a point to get my head outside of the fairing.

edit: Doesn't help that it mentions the calling card of stupid "pop physics" too...

These are great articles Pete...Thanks. I've only been riding for four years and 98% of the miles ridden are comuter. No chance to get better. I do GREAT straight lines! Cornering smoothly and efficiently...well...not so much. I need more group ride times so I can watch and learn!

BTW, I've written 5 years worth of articles for MCN. Unfortunately, only the most informed riders even know about MCN (Motorcycle Consumer News, Not the Brit mag.).

It's a NO advertising rag with real content. Give it a look-see.

the Keith Code articles I really like.
He really breaks down the whole process down to the
sensations and thought processes and actions that
one goes through when riding fast.

    thanks Pete for posting these.
