It's a moped. Call it a scooter if you like. You can get one with or without pedals. Pipe is not stock: Tecno Bullet from Treatland.tv

I really like it, and all of the mods available for it. I just looked quickly and saw pipes, big bore kits, and even ECU's! Neat! But, at $1,700, a full sized used bike might make more sense... I am still thinking about one, though...

Otherwise, I'd probably still be riding if it weren't for that. I've had to put the insulating insert back into my jacket, and I wrap a scarf around my head and neck because I feel really cold. I also got sick because the only thing exposed on me to the air was my neck. Everywhere I'm covered up 100%.

Covering your neck in cold/hot weather is really important. The blood flow to your head goes through that checkpoint and isn't insulated like most of the rest of your circulatory system. A good scarf or one of those ninja masks they sell in the hunting goods stores right now will go a good length to keeping your blood warm.

Streetmates are harder to find used. Targa or Revival are also nice. There's a few on CL now.

I'm still riding. Been thinking a bit about finding out where my winter gloves ended up after the move.

Rode today. Lots of condensation made it difficult to see in the dark otherwise an un-eventful commute! Bike runs soooooooooo godd in the colder air. Temp 43 today @ 5:45 am.

Anyone have a recommendation for a neck gaiter? My chin and neck end up colder than anything else.

Go to a ski mart and get a thin silkish head wrap (balakava?). They work great under the helmet and do keep you warm.

Rode this morning, chilly. Had the grips cranked. Funny how your hands can still feel cold and you can't really feel the heat, but you know that if they weren't there it'd be painful. My grips should get warmer than they do, maybe look into something this winter.

I have a balaclava I picked up at dick's near our local mall. It works fine. Honestly I don't believe there is any rocket science to them.

I have one of those thin "windstopping" ones but it sucks. I was wondering if motorcycle specific one would be any better. I'll try a thicker one from a ski place.

I'll give you guys credit, I'm already starting to plan winter storage. I don't enjoy 2 wheels at all when it gets this chilly.

High 30s on the ride in this morning. Don't need a balaclava till it gets down below mid 30s, though I do wear a fleece with an upright collar that mostly covers my neck.

Between the heated vest, heated grips, and proper layering, I can ride comfortably at basically any temperature. What will stop me commuting by bike is significant risk of ice/snow on the roads.

I picked one up at Parkway Cycle in Everett about 4 seasons ago. covers the nose, mouth, and neck pretty well and goes on easy with a velcro panel on the back. I have ridden with it in the low 20`s at highway speeds and love it.

After last winter, I'm not sure I'll ever say the bike is permanently on ice 'til spring. I think I'll start to blend in stabilizer and keep the battery handy. Just a few minutes from storage to riding.

That said I am not done yet.

I agree with this. Im a fair weather rider to begin with....add the fact its cold at 6am when I leave my house...and Im done riding to work.

I will take it out during the afternoon when its warmer, but Im done commuting.

    I don't mind the 40's. With a short commute, I haven't even thrown on a fleece yet.
Rode Wednesday and it wasn't bad even with the rain.

I don't do much winterizing, basically keep the Tiger and the XR ready to ride throughout the winter, because when conditions permit I like to get out for a ride. My only concession, really, is adding fuel stabilizer to the gas tank.

I pull my battery. No power outlet near where I keep the bike. I think it is happier in the (warmer) basement than the (colder) garage anyway.

I'm out in Washington in the rain and 41 degrees on a BMW r1200 gs. I must now figure out hand guards and a high shield to block the wind on the hawk. This BMW is sweet in this weather. Just missed mt rainier by about 1 hour. Now it's going to be buried in clouds and rain. Got to see it from Tacoma.

41 and rain. Sounds like the weather here.

Hopefully the BIM forum was good, as the riding, while not the end of the world could have been better. Enjoy whatever's left as much as you can.
