I got to poking around and came across the Yamaha XS650. Apparently its a pretty common bike to tweak out for short money.

It's a chopper, supersport and hooligan bike all in one:

    Monster garage hardtail bobber

    Ugly but nimble?

    Gary Glitter rides again

    Hooligan style

Wow! That was cool. Some of those were very likable. Was this a nice find surfing or are you into them? It is alway great to see something non-mainsteam. yet creative and well built. This is what motorcycles are about, do it because you like it. Wooh,,,,,, time to go to bed now. zzZ

    Cool or lame?

The R1-type one seems like a waste of an R1 frame and plastics.

    Cool or lame?

I'd love to make a chopper out of a sportbike engine. (Inline 4 specifically)

I've seen a few that were made from CB750 motors.... very sweet to see someone willing to buck the V-twin mafia.

    Cool or lame?

I stumbled the bike by surfing SVRider.com where someone posted about getting one for free. That turned into 1 hr of googling and oggling.

Maybe if I trip over a suitcase with a couple of grand in there I'll start building my own bobber on an XS. I think it would be kick ass to show up to the poser spot on a bike that (1) I physically built myself and (2) cost less than a chrome kit for a HD.

I got to thinking what if instead of using the XS motor I used say the motor from an RC-51 Then I realized that I'd have to find a way to turn the radiators into a seat or something

I decided rambling about one of these bikes would be 30% as fun and 100% cheaper
