    Coolant for winter....

Okay, now I'm officially whoring for advice....

My track bike (Franken-bike ) has just water for coolant, and I want to drain it out because the bike will be stored in a non-heated environment for the winter. Since I intend to just run water in it again in the spring, do I need to replenish the system with coolant, or can I just leave it empty for the winter?

I owe you all some , but you'll have to come up to Montreal to get it.

Use coolant. If you don't, you could dry-rot the seals.

Use aluminum safe coolant, usually mixed 50/50 with distilled water. Besides freeze prevention and the previously mentioned seal lubricant, it is also a corrosion deterent...

Come spring you'll hafta drain it, flush it, flush it, flush it and flush it to get all the coolant out through. Which isn't REALLY a big deal...
