    Suspension helps alot !

He says it is OK with weight in it because then it holds the tires on the ground a little better

    Trailor Question

Mike, what kind of trailer ya lookin at? The one I bought from harborfreight.com rides fine with just leaf springs for suspension. I really didn't see much difference with or without weight. When the trailer is empty it will bounce more over the larger bumps in the road.

    Trailor Question

I called about one that sounded ok, but found out it was home made and had an axle from a cadilac. It said diamond plate floor with two wheel chocks, for $500.

    I think I'll pass...

I'll check out that web site, thanks john.

Ed, This is what I was thinking, thanks for the input...

    Trailor Question

The problem with diamond plate flooring is yeah it may look the balls.. but try riding a bike on it when it is wet! It can be pretty slippery.. same thing with the fancy checked flag floors ya see in race trailers.. great for cars but hazardous on a bike if they're wet or you're riding into it on wet tires. I like the bedliner paint for a floor as in my trailer (waterproofs the floor also) then I just put removeable carpet over that so I can lay down with the accupuncture effect on your skin.

but then again if you're using a wimpy truck to haul it ya might want to try and save on some of the weight.... LOL

FWIW, in my experience stay away from anything with a car axle! You need a SHITLOAD of weight on 'em to stop 'em from bouncing around...

Sounds like a cool trailer. That's the same size as Todd's trailer (the red one i used for stonnerstock in years past). You WILL need a heavy duty truck to safely tow that trailer. Moving something that size around with your exploder is asking for a road hazzard I'd suggest a 2500 series at least. Make sure you get the factory trailer prep package (on GM anyways) and all you'll have to do is pop in a fuse and hook up a brake controler and you'll be fully wired with trailer brakes and the power wire to run the inside lamps.

What are you thinking for a new truck?

    Trailor Question

I think I will wait a bit before I look at trucks, I have spent too much this year already. I have only had the Explorer 8 1/2 months and everything is all fixed now. One more issue & I will surely trade it in! This is definately my last ford vehicle of any sort..

The trailor is very light and it's smaller than Todd's, you'll see it @ the trackday. Gross weight is 1550 lbs roughly. My truck can pull it with no problem even stuffed with 3 or 4 bikes...
The box is 6X14 no wheel wells inside an no need for aftermarket mirrors for the Exploder!
    I think Todds was 8X16 ?? Right

Speeking of that, I will have to make a screen door like the one you made for Todd's!

    Trailor Question

No, Todd's trailer is 7x14 with a 5500 lb axle. If it's a single axle, it's either 3,500 lbs or 5,500 lbs, not sure where the 1500 lbs gross weght came from but it's false info Todd's trailer empty is 2400 lbs.

Saw the chart for it today! I have the specs.
One difference for sure is Todd's Box (huh huh "box") is accually 7X14, mine is 6X14, the external wheel wells/tires are the other 1' or so.. So it's not an accual 7X14.. It's a single axle with 15" rims. The Trailor itself weighs 1500lbs. Meaning Gross weight. I beleive the weight towing capasity of the trailor is only 3,500. more than enough for my needs!

Picking it up after work tomorrow!!

    Trailor Question

LOL... a "certain" GM may be "hooked up" and look good and fun in the mud but I'd take the Cummins over it anyday for towing.. gotta have the black smoke and turbo whine! not too mention I don't need a 2' drop hitch.... and I get about 12 miles per gallon towing a FULL trailer with 4 fatties inside (three of them... ) bwaaaaaa haaaaaa

oh and by the way 6'? Ya don't think that's a bit narrow? Be carefull of the bikes rocking and rubbing each other or the walls... I find 7' to be fairly tight as it is when running em side by side.

Okay, first off funny guy, it's only a one foot drop hitch. Secondly, I COULD get 12 MPG if I found about 10 miles of downhill run and I had a tailwind. Trailoring? HA! Doesn't happen much in my truck, unless it's too & from the track. Just ain't much of a towing/hauling rig anymore...

    Trailor Question

My truck has a 6.0 gas v8 and towing Todd's 7x14 trailer with 2 jet skis and 2 quads and a bunch of gear gets 12 mpg heading north and 14 mpg heading south. Where is the advantage to the $6k diesle option??

6' wide is fine side by side, just put one in backwards and there should be plenty of room
