NO! These are costs I invested FOR the track, so if you bought a bunch of shit FOR the track and never went then yes.

Kitt, how many races did you do on $400 worth of tires? seems that tires are the big expense once you get the gear

    Manny,
The only choice I see for you after studying your situation with the cost of your bike and trailer is to do way more trackdays. This should bring your per/lap cost down!

4, but it'd be cool if I could afford to do 2 races per set.

    +1 to that.

But, I am a contract worker so no work = no pay. My cost per lap actually goes up if I factor in my missed work! Is that even possible??

Wouldn't be surprised if I was pretty close to that, too... under a buck a lap probably.

    Ducati 848: $12,999
    Termi Slipons: $1,500
    Ohlins TTX: $1,100
    Ohlins 25mm Cartridges: $1900
    Dan Kyle Triple Clamps: $695
    DK Ohlins Steering Damper: $599
    Marvic Penta Mag Wheels: $1250

    LAPS Entry Fees: $129

    Laps: 12

    Cost / Lap: $1681

Hahaha. Good thing the #'s are approximated and I got in the Seacoast day for free as an instructor.... but Fahk, the LAPS day BLEW... b/c of the weather anyway.

Anyway, clearly not even close to an indication of cost / lap or mile

    Hookers anyway.

Manny did you need to buy a 749? You have a great motard.
Manny did you need to buy a Trailer? You had a nice pick-up truck.

Beats the hell out of the stock market.

Re: Cost Per lap...its ok to laugh...or cry

I got into motorcycles and motorcycle racing this year as a cheaper alternative to racing cars. I still need to run numbers for '09 (first full season on the bike) but at ~$300 for a set of tires and only $240 for a weekend worth of races (two races, Friday, Sat & Sun practice) it still beats $1,250 for a set of car tires and ~$450 for two days on the track not to mention the difference in gas.
