Cost of plate transfer in Mass?

Cost of plate transfer in Mass?

What does this save instead of just titling anew? Seems like not much, right? Still pay sales tax on the new rig, still pay what, $20 for registration and what does a plate cost anyway?

    Thanks.

I just did this, when I bought me new truck. I believe that the savings is $25 - $100 for transfer, vs $125 for new. The big savings (as opposed to just getting a new registration for the new vehicle) is in insurance coverage (as in not having to carry coverage for both vehicles).

Everything went up recently. As far as I'm concerned, huge rip-off.

I just registered a new vehicle yesterday and it was 50 bucks for new plates

Had I transfrered it would have been 25

It was 75 for the title.

Did you pay an additional title fee?

They probably just rolled the two together.

Oh, I paid a separate Title fee. In the saleman's office, there was a sign on the wall listing prices for new and registration transfers. I am pretty certain that it either read $75/$100 or $100/$125. My wife and I were looking at it and talking about how crazy it seemed...

It's been a while since I sold new and use bikes but I think that they hit you up for a surcharge to take care of those things for you, which is not unreasonable, nor is it entirely reasonable either!
