    Case cover armor

After my last outing on the track I figured out that if I wanna crash and keep riding and avoid oiling the track I need to do something about my over-exposed stator cover. So here is my solution. It's a little crude, as are the pictures, but I think it will protect the case from at least 1 more down.

    My materials:

    "New" used cover:

    Fit the steel stock:

    JBweld into place:

    Finished like new!!

A puck would be great but it might create clearance issues on hard leans.

Yes I am a cheap bastard.

I hope they don't come off. I woulda have to get them down further so you could run a couple of the cover bolts through.

    good idea though.

Why not just skip two race entries and buy a Woodcraft cover.

    Re: Case cover armor

It's another 70$ on top of the regular $43 for the left side. But, I got this spare for nothing and if it even holds up for one crash, it was worth the 10$ and 20 minutes. I gave it the 'Big Fucking Hammer' test and it passed. This specific cover on the GSXR is so over exposed when I did some searching and I was surprised what little I could find for aftermarket armored replacement.
