Amazing how China is loosening their covid policy yet the U.S. is ramping up again.

Mask requirements are starting to trickle back at hospitals and some schools in KY and TX of all places are already going remote. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if this trend continued to accelerate given another new variant and other factors.

Bring it! Gimme the essential businesses only, low traffic, cheap vehicles & people keeping their distances! We were busier than ever at the shop for two years too! I'm ready for another round!

Wow, just looked that up. I guess certain school districts in KY and TX have so many staff/students out sick that it doesn't make sense to run the school. Curious if these are areas with low vaccination rates.

Happened to my friends at work and it happened with my family as well.

After vaccinations and prior infections, this wasn't true anymore. My younger daughter got covid again last summer, and we all expected to get symptoms in the next couple of days. But even though we were exposed, nobody else in the family ever tested positive.
i agree...it depends on viral load received as well as the person's immune system...plus there were people who tested positive but had no symptoms...so did they really have it or was it just a inaccurate test and could they pass it?...i wish they had at home antibody tests that you could buy at the pharmacy and do at home...dec 2020 wife and i both got it but daughter didn't, nov 2022 all 3 of us got it, aug 2023 only i got it, i think (they didn't feel great and may have got it but they never took a test to find out)...daughter and i are unvaxxed and wife had the 1 dose j&j...i'm assuming the nov 2022 infection the wife got was a "breakthrough" case cause i think she got the j&j before that...i would have to check her vax passport...either way i'll be doing my best to not ever wear a face diaper for covid again...wife is a teacher so i'm sure if the school mandates come back she will have to

the low traffic was so great!...i was one of the few that was still going to the office everyday during the early work from home policy...easiest driving ever and there were no cops that wanted to pull you over so you never saw them out on the highways

Possibly. That doesn't jive with the hospitals in NY, MA and CA though. Should be pretty high percentages vaxxed there.

I was a moto commuter too. The lack of traffic was incredible. And I couldn't keep up with the work load. We were so fuckin' busy that first year too!

Yeah, PPE works when it's used and at the proper level for the hazard. We had a similar situation here. People got it from outside sources not when suited up here.

yes but respirators are not masks...everyone would assume respirators would provide better protection due to better filtration and sealing properties but no studies during covid to back it up...and have fun breathing all day in one of those...may as well just drag a diving mask around with an oxygen tank

Nothing worse than putting a sweaty mask or neck gaiter back on after break. As always I have an angel and a devil on my shoulder, I think neck gaiters worked enough to stop me from getting Covid when all my coworkers got it, but also at work I would go to write on a dusty surface and blow, forgetting my mouth was covered… and the debris would still clear… but who knows.

Tl;dr, but is this more of the recent attack on “forever particles”. I saw we’re all getting anal cancer because of the bath tissue we use, and paper straws are worse than plastic for the same reason

you mean PFAS...that's not the same as VOCs...PFAS is a big issue in the industry i work in...also at home i'm trying to move away from plastics for food and liquid storage and back to pyrex/glass and other non-leaching materials...but it's hard to rid yourself of plastics for products you use to ingest food/liquid or use on your body...it's also not just plastics as you mentioned...i'm sure they all have varying amounts of PFAS but i figure the more i can get rid of and use safer materials the better...not going to be able to remove all of them...just thinking about the stuff i use on a daily basis shampoo bottle, body wash bottle, toothbrush, toothpaste tubes, deoderant, water bottles, liquid storage jugs, sandwich bags, cling wrap, food containers, microwave splatter covers, liquid soap, plastic cutting boards, etc...the food we buy and the products we use are slowly giving us diseases or killing us...it's scary...
