During our morning meeting at work this morning it was reported to us that a motorcyclist near the Carver land fill crashed into a water tank truck. The motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed 90 to 100 mph, and on the wrong side of the road. The tanker truck had just left the land fill and was traveling down the road at approx 20-25 mph when the accident happened. The bike came around the bend on the wrong side of the road heading straight for the truck. The operator of the bike laid it down, the bike struck the front of the truck and blew apart. The front channel iron of the truck that the front bumper mounted to was pushed into the front wheel. The rider of the bike was med flighted out and from what we under stand not expected to live. There was a second motorcyclist that was with him but not involved.
Know where your riding, what is around, and use your head.
Apparently this guy didn't and may now pay the ultimate price.....

A park bench is hazardous if you ride into it's path on the wrong side of the road at 100mph.Originally posted by Kham

i think it's luck too. if only that truck was few seconds late, he probly would have made it and probly shit his pants and thought would never ever have done it again.
"fuckit!"
I think he was riding way over his head for the area, (not staying within his own lane). He was travelling at near tripple posted speed, during the day in a "work" area. I have nothing against a "spirited" ride, but this is a little more than "spirited" for this road. IMO.....Originally posted by Kham

im just saying we all did stupid things sometimes. somtimes we get away with it, luck, and sometimes we pay with less consequence than this guy, walk another day. but afterward we learn from it. what was that quote? "what doesn't kill you make you stronger"? something like that.

A couple weeks ago,I almost had a head on with a motorcycle on MY side of the road, I was driving my Jeep truck on Estes Road in Rochester, NH (freshly paved twisty) coming in to a blind corner, had I been there 1/2 second quicker, the sportbike that went wide, would have planted in my plow frame

I have no idea if I've been down that road but I will certainly pay attention. But I also know that I wouldn't be doing those speeds on the south shore anywhere but RT3...Originally posted by gixx6man

you must know your limit, and also the road!![]()
Yeah Craig,
I have taken you down that road. We went on it when we left Myles Standish. You can do half that speed on that road and still have fun. We went on a weekend day when the landfill is closed. Just sucks, because now the police will be patroling that road for sure.
Yup only decent road in the area will now be effectively closed to "spirited" riding... or you take your chances at getting ticketed...![]()

A wise old motorcyclist told me a while ago... "never ride faster than you can see". Makes alot of sense in this situation. The roads I usually ride, you can't get much over 70 without getting stupid. The only place to go fast is on the highway, really. JMO, but, if I can't see at least 1/2 mile to 1 mile ahead of me, I don't get insane with speed. Had a short burst of 130 MPH the other day and luckily I spotted LEO before he "shot" me. Engine braking is a wonderful thing!

What fund is speeding on the highway?
Last I checked it was backroads at high speeds that is most enjoyable.

That is nasty.
R.I.P man! Prayers to his family.
you should NEVER be in the oncoming traffic lane unless you know what your doing... or passing. But not at 100+mph...no one need pass at that speed.

I only meant that speeding on the highway is boring and a greater risk of getting a ticket. Backroad speeding fuckin' rules!
