I am a street rider/racer, will a dirt camp really help me?

    • A majority of our clients are road racers. Having a full understanding of just what the motorcycle is doing underneath you is a skill all riders look for. At our camp you will be experiencing slick dirt tracks which are meant for truly finding the limit of grip. When grip is lost and then gained, we as a rider find the true understanding of bike control, throttle control and proper inputs for the motorcycle. Riding a motorcycle that is constantly moving around underneath you is “feeling” we want you to experience and get a grasp of at the camp. It is all about “feel” and all of this immediately transfers to the pavement.

    Thanks,

Either way, I've been trying to say this for years, that dirties help with road racing/street riding like this and always got "they're 2 separate skills, one doesn't cross over to the other" vibe from lots of cats. I wanna save this segment somewhere so I can eloquently reply "eat shit" to that sentiment.

Really Chip? I've never heard that...universally I've heard that dirt experience is a great way to improve your road/street skills. I'd love to take a dirt school sometime...before I get too old!

I don't know who, specifically, but it's certainly been indicated, even here.

Any of these camps would bring a street rider's traction sense to a much higher level.

Re: A few thoughts on Crashing

I'm one who believes that the skills cross over, but not as directly as people like to say. If you have been riding dirt all your life, then yes, you're going to have a more natural sense of traction.

A two week camp is fun, but it's not enough to rewire your muscle memory. The problem is that almost all of the sensations and movements are different from a sportbike on pavement to a dirtbike. It is not quite a one to one relationship. It takes time for your brain to develop TWO sets of muscle memory. Once that happens, you are INDEED going to be a better roadracer for all of your time in the dirt.

So, to the OP, I say yes, take the boot camp, but then you have to train on dirt at home. Routinely.

    This is sounding interesting.

Dolla Bill, you give any more thought to doing this in April with Brian?
