    My new Monster 1200s.

I just picked up my new Monster 1200s from SeaCoast sport cycles. Jim as always was very pleasant to deal with.

My options are Triumph Speed Triple R, Aprilla Trono and Ducati monster1200s. I like the look riding position and it came with a metal tank.

Awesome, I used to have the m1100 and I really loved it! I heard she's a dream.

That thing is RIDICULOUS value for money. For $13.5k, you get WAY more kit than anything even remotely comparable, and anything Ducati has sold in the past. If I was still riding street, I'd pick one up with my eyes closed. Enjoy it man!

Agreed, I was super tempted to do this, but got a killer deal on the 675

Beautiful bike. I don't want to test ride one because I'm afraid I will be disappointed when I get back on my 1100. I have to ask why the superduke 1290 wasn't an option? Isn't the Monster 1200 S $16000 + Termis must have put you in the same price range?

Wow, I missed this bike. It looks a lot like the diavel in some ways, is there any crossover on parts? Engine, frame, etc?

I think the motor has the same cases. That's probably about it... It's nothing like the Diavel in function. It is a twisty eating machine.

I still like the big-torque 2V aircooled engines over the fancy 4V versions. Lots o' punch right where it's most useful. As for the 1290, all the mags love it, but I'm not quite convinced about the durability and long term reliability of the KTM LC4 engine, and the more they expand and stress it, well ...

The engine is pretty much the same as the Diavel. I don't think much of anything else is in common.

You mean the LC8? The 1290 is insane. A serious brute. I think the motor has been pretty stout.

The testastretta motor in the 1200S is a classic. That thing is so well sorted and just plain entertaining to ride. It has PLENTY of punch where you need it, then serious acceleration on top. It is kind of a best of both worlds motor. The DTC system works amazingly well. It's hard to believe what we can buy right off the showroom floor these days.

That said, I think that the EVO 1100 is a great upgrade of the tired 2V platform.

Yeah, I guess the engine and exhaust kind of looked similar to me. I was pretty sure geometry and suspension would be all different. Looks pretty awesome.

Cycle 128 had it in stock but it was in a crate and I didn't really like the sale guys. Believe me I was eyeing it hard.

I have 450 miles on this monster and love it. I'm still in the 600 miles break in period and can't really rump on it. Coming from a 08 r1 and a 05 SV650, this thing has so much lowend tq.

That looks like a wonderful bike. I've been doing a little research on my next bike once I'm out of college and this was in the running. The only thing I've heard that I don't particularly like is the fact that the motor supposedly runs out of steam on the top end. I've heard they're absolute torque monsters though. That's what has me leaning towards a Z1000 at this point.

The Z1000 is in a different league, a lower one. The inline 4 in the zed is superb for an inline 4, but nothing to compare to the Monster's engine. Plus, the kit in the monster, the style, etc....there is NO comparison. Beautiful bike!

Yes, I meant the LC8. I've heard some unpretty stories about the RC8's build quality and reliability. I'm not saying it's bad, but I am saying I don't have the confidence in it I do for the well-developed Duc engine. (Duc electronics, OTOH, well ...)

Gorgeous bike, that it is. Obviously the Ohlins is a step above the Showa suspension, as well as the Brembo monoblocs.

There's something about a Japanese inline four screamer in a naked bike that's just appealing to me. Another thing is the price, seeing that Ill be in a budget. I wish I had 15K+ to spend on a bike lol. If I had that kind of cash I would probably be on this or a Speed Triple R.

Should be a great bike for you. If this were around last year when I bought my S3R I probably would have had some more to think about.

The base monster at 13500 Msrp is a good bang for the buck. I'm not sure what the z1000 goes for but I think 11999k. At that price I would pick the monster anyway. I don't think you will have any issues with over taking a z1000 with the monster. I wouldn't worry about the monster running out of steam, you need to ride it differently.

I'm assuming you're talking about the Monster 1200 base model.

1500 is still quite a bit of money but it all comes down to how the bike feels when you ride it.

Still a gorgeous bike nonetheless. I'm betting it sounds pretty nice with the Termi system as well.

This is the thread where we congratulate him on his new Ducati. Which is awesome by the way.
Not where we tell everyone why I like this or that Bike in comparison.
