I ordered a full 6000k HID kit (2 high 1 lo) for my gixxah. Hoping I won't regret the color choice, didn't think the 8000k or the 10000k would look good on my white bike/provide the visability I am looking for.

6k is pretty much as high as I would ever get. Once you get above that color temperature you're actually losing a lot of light output and gaining stupid colors.

Lower the K the whiter the light. And more of it as Schleppy said.

I was thinking of going with the 6000k When I finally do it. The 6000's will look a little blue. The 8k's more so and the 10k's will be purpley looking.
09 gixxer 7 has 2 high beams and one low?
That sounds like it might get spendy. Last I checked it was about $200 for both high and low beam on my bike, but I've got one H7 bulb and one H9, single element bulbs. No high and low in the same bulb like an H4.

Where are you getting your HIDs from?
Would be cool to see some pics after you install 'em

getting from www.gixxerboys.com, uy has great ebay feedback and really backs his product. Not to mention I get a pair of sidi flip flops for my business Paying 195 for 3 bulbs 3 mini balast, wiring shit, and a white led running light.

punjistick has 4k on his gixxer, and they're pure white. if you're looking for a blue tint, but still good visability get the 6k

I had 6k's on my old Acura and ended up changing them out for 4k's. Visibility just wasn't there.

HID install is easy, it just takes time to hide the ballasts and run the wires cleanly. I've installed a few sets in cars (with big ballasts) and it wasn't bad at all.

Yup, simple. Plug and play for the most part. I've run 10K, 8K, 6K and currently 3500K. I like the 3500K the best, but most people don't like the yellow. 6K had great visibility too IMHO.

Re: Anyone current have 6000k's installed?

Do not buy the ones from ManyADeal.com. I only had one in at a time (I like having a halogen high beam so I can flick it). The first ballast went within 2 months and the second one went out about 2 weeks ago. Total combined miles on both ballasts: about 7k miles. I have to pay $20 for shipping from China for a replacement set. I'm not going to even bother.

For what it's worth, I have heard numerous stories from people with these Chinese/eBay kits not being reliable. Anyone else have their ~$80 kits crap out prematurely?

Anyone have any recommendations for a good reliable kit? Specifcally one that will last me more than 20k? I have heard good things about the Philips kits but cannot justify $300. Although if they keep popping at 7-8k miles it might be worth it in the long run.

Now back to the regularly scheduled program. The kit I had was a 35W 4300k set up. The light output coming out of a 2001 F4i reflector housing was excellent and the cutoff was really sharp. The light was comparable to sunlight when I compared it to the light coming through the window in my garage. I am sure the 6k's will provide decent light but that's about as high up the temperature scale I would go. Some of the kits I have seen out there are ridiculous and really should be illegal (not saying that these kits are legal but purple is ridiculous).
