    Custom ear plugs?

I wear ear plugs every time I ride, and I have for a while now. For the past few years I've been buying the big packs of orange/purple foam ear plugs from Home Depot. They work really well, and I have no complaints with them, other than the fact that they aren't really reusable. Because of that I find myself buying them fairly often, and they aren't super cheap.

So, does anyone know a place (preferably local) that you can have a custom set of earplugs made? I'd like at least a 32db NRR, since that's what I'm used to. Obviously they would have to be reusable/washable.

    Thanks all!

    Re: Custom ear plugs?

I have a custom set for shooting... It was a while ago that I had them made but I will try to find out the name of the guy who did them. I had them done at a gun show so I don't know if the guy is local or not.

Heres 1 thread...there are a couple others w/ same gist (search "ear plugs" w/ quotes...)

Some better off the shelf reusable types:
Doc's Proplugs: The Doctor's Choice for Ear Protection
Etymotic Research, Inc. - High-fidelity Earphones and Hearing Instrumentation

Not sure of local places, but I believe custom can run hundreds of dollars. So you might want to give Proplugs or Etymotic's a try.

Contact your local gun dealer or shooting range. They will know exactly where to get them made.

    Re: Custom ear plugs?

Contact your local audiologists. A lot of them deal with custom ear plug manufacturers and will take the impressions/molds at their office and then send them out to create the actual plugs. The whole process should only take a few weeks.

This is supposed to be a very reputable manufacturer. Click where it reads "Find a Westone authorized dispenser in your area".

just go to almost any trap shooting contest at your local shooting range. There is a # of travelling custom earplug makers that work those things and I think they run @$30.
