    Dangerous trackrider

I remember my first track day, I was coming thru 10 and saw ahead on the approach to 11 a friend that was pitting out and I thought I missed the checkered so without looking I moved quickly to the left got off throttle then put up my left hand. what I didn't realize (which an insructor QUICKLY pointed out) is that there were a bunch of migs on my 6. the better riders were watching and sternly but politely put me in check. no harm no foul. when the day was over the guy came over as if he thought i took it personally and appologized for making me the ass clown of that session.

Always assume there is someone on your ass, head down and throttle pinned. I say this at the beginning of every trackday.

And for educational purposes, I'll pick out a few other items in your post.

    - When you come off the track, it is called PIT IN.

    - NEVER move quickly to the LEFT OR RIGHT. Be predictable and gradual.

    - The proper order is, PUT UP HAND, then EASE OFF THROTTLE. Not the other way around.

It sounds like you learned your lesson, this is for others that might be reading.

What seperates the good rider from the dangerous one on track day is simple, "Good Judgment and Common Sense"!
