    Lighting

To increase the visibility of motorcycles on the road, a new law enacted this year allows the use of LED (light emitting diode) and “blue dot” lighting to illuminate the chassis of the motorcycle. The aptly-named blue dot tail lights have red lenses with a blue translucent dot in their center, to attract other drivers’ attention when the brake light is engaged.

Operators of motorcycles must be aware that the LED lights may not be blue or red-colored, which are used by emergency response vehicles.
    thanks for making me read

Ok, serious question here. I was thinking of getting one of those flashing RED LED lights (like bicycles use) and attaching it to my jacket. Is that legal??

Re: DBConz and state of maryland in agreement!!

I cant decide if I like the part about the yielding to bikes though, the penalty is stiff, but as noted, if it needs to be enforced its too late. I wish they'd enforce the yielding laws in rotarys more. Theres 3 I travel in and around on a regular basis, and I never feel safe there, either slowing to yield to traffic in the rotary (since someones gonna rearend me someday) or in the rotary since no one ever yields.
But of course they write tickets to the person doing 76 down the fast lane of the highway, because thats unsafe.

Wait a min ..... so if I read this right there will be stiffer fines for the stiff that dies in a failure to yield accident aaaannnd they will be suspending the license of a dead or seriously injured person. WTF They R fucked up down there.

Oh ? ... what about the led's that illuminate the mowhawk on Berg's helmet? are they legal? Bergs usually oscillates when he rides. soo does that count?

What's wrong with cromze on a gixxah? Next thing you'll be telling us is that extended swingarms aren't cool...or those WWI German helmets.

Re: DBConz and state of maryland in agreement!!

i have blue undertail LEDs on my VFR. I think it looks the berries. I've been followed by the fuzz with them here in RI. Never any trouble. I did think it might be an issue, but im registered in MASS anyway. I dont think they can get me for that sh1t here in RI.

It makes me more visible at night. They can keep their fine and bite my nuts.

As far as the accident stuff, that whole area of law is totally screwed. So many motorists kill people on road bikes (the pedal kind) and get off with not even a slap on the wrist. It happened in CT last summer. Lady iced some guy with her big SUV, didnt even get a ticket.

It is amazing that when you use a car, all you have to say is "I sneezed" and homicide turns to "oh well, geez, try not to let it happen again".

Way I see it, bikes are allowed to ride on sidewalks. If you see how half of them ride in boston, they're taking their own life into their hands.
    But I agree.
