    DCIII track day life

What are you guys getting for life when using the DCIII's for trackdays?
    I'll be on a 600.
For example, I would imagine my lap times to be in the 1:25 range for a track day at Loudon.

The 600rr has some used Michelins on it now, probably good for another day. But I've always ridden Pirelli's so I want to switch. And since I don't have a complete spare wheel set, I'd like something that would handle wet weather as well.

I get about 6 days out of a set. I could stretch it to 8, I suspect. That's riding more than the normal number of laps, but at a wider variation of speed. I may ride 150 miles, but only 60% of those laps will be at the 1:25 pace.

It's always the rear that starts to spin. I've never had a front slide because of use.

Ken, any significant street miles in addition to those 6 days, because that was your street bike last year, right?

Oh yeah. Add on about 2000 street miles to each set of tires.

The Corsa 3s are a great tire. I can do fast blue group laps and tour on the same tire!

Remember though that different bikes and riders will have different results.

Remember that your mileage may vary. How many track days are you planning? What group will you be riding in?

Good news Ken....I'm also going with the Corsa 3's. How are they in the summer heat at blue group pace? I know tire pressure is sort of a personal preference thing...but, what cold and/or hot pressures do you run at the track? Thanks.

I've had no issues because of heat. I run 32f 30r. I used to run 30/30, but I was told that wasn't necessary. Derek is the guy to ask about the "official" pressures.

I don't want to make it sound like these tires are perfect. I can easily go 2 seconds faster off the bat on race rubber. A fast blue group rider whose mission is total confidence while riding at the edge might want to look at race rubber, but for most track day riders, the Corsa 3s are a great choice (as are the Pilot Powers and Dunlop 209s, etc.). What high-performance street tire offer is street-tire warm up time and temperature range (no need for tire warmers) and are better in the rain than race DOTs. And unlike race tires (take offs or not) these are excellent street tires.

You'll be fine with 2 sets for sure. I would even hazard to guess that you could possibly do the whole season on one set, depending on how aggressively you end up riding, suspension setup, etc.

Hell, I used two sets during one season of racing (8 events). There were less laps overall, but the pace was much faster than a typical track day. (Much lower hp, but similar torque and weight as your bike- MZ Scorpion)

lil ot but while we are talking corsa III's what are you guys running for psi on the street with a 180/120 combo? I'm slow and weigh like 150 soaking wet if that makes any difference.

I already have a spare rear wheel. Working on getting a front so I can run full rains on the spares.
