GOOD DEAL? ANYTHING I SHOULD LOOK FOR?

MORNING , FOUND AN 02 GSXR 600 TELEFONICA THIS WEEKEND FOR $4800 WITH 8900 MILES ON IT. THE BIKE LOOKS PRETTY MINT TO ME (NEEDS TIRES THOUGH) I THINK ITS A GOOD DEAL. ANYONE ELSE WANNA MAKE ME FEEL BETTER ABOUT DROPPING $5k? THIS WILL POSSIBLY BE MY FIRST SUZUKI, IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR OR IS THIS A RELIABLE PIECE?

    SOORY FOR THE CAPS

    THANKS

Run the motor, get it up to temp and listen near the radiator for any weird sounds...Once its up to temp, stand next to the bike (kickstand side) and put kickstand up, grab clutch and kick it into first, dont move the bike, but rev it up, almost all the way for a sec and if the bike lurches or tries to move forward the clutch is suspect. Also these bikes have 2nd gear problems if they have been beat on. I really like the Telephonica look, so I hope it works out.

Some other expensive stuff is fork seals, check sprockets and chain, etc...

    Good Luck!

Re: GOOD DEAL? ANYTHING I SHOULD LOOK FOR?

It's overpriced for this time of year. I paid $4,750 for my 05 600 with 6500 miles last September. It wasn't in mint condition, but still a clean bike. I'd be looking at 06-07 bikes, I've seen some in the $6000 range. I don't think buying that bike is a stupid move by any means, I just think you may find a better deal/bike for the money. Good luck.

Second I agree it is overpriced. I would not pay 4800 for an 04 or 05 this time of year.

i paid $4850 for my K2 600 in june last year. yours has less miles, but i agree with everyone that it's overpriced for this time of year. check lemon laws for RI, because i got screwed on mine when i bought in NH and registered in MA. make sure you're covered if it wont pass safety inspection sticker.

is that when you shift it into 1st gear, or when you give it throttle with the clutch lever still grabbed?

Re: GOOD DEAL? ANYTHING I SHOULD LOOK FOR?

I bought my '02 GSX-R 750 11k miles last year for $4,700 with rash on the side.

And if you are not being sarcastic (which i suspect some are) Every Bike i have owned "shudders" when dropping to 1st from neutral with the clutch disengaged.

When you get a chance, post some pics up of the one you're looking at. If it's my old Telefonica I'd be able to tell in an instant and could tell you that the mileage is actually WELL above 8900. Ain't too hard to swap out a cluster these days in order to sell a "lower mileage" bike
