Well look at what I found Wayno

See if you can guess who the dirty wheels belong to. Notice the bike on the right (my bike) has very clean wheels and at that point, I hadn't washed them for at least a month

Always clean the interior first. When you do the interior you stir up all kinds of dust onto your freshly cleaned exterior.

Interior tips (bikes need not apply):
-Fill a bucket with warm water and laundry detergent. It helps to have a hot water pressure washer to make suds.
-Use a paintbrush on the dash and a bathroom scrub brush on the headliner and carpets. Use more suds than water.
-Headliner first, dash second, carpets last
-Use a shop vac to suck out the majority of water after each stage. Then use an air compressor and a chamois to get the water out of the cracks and crevaces.
-Clean the glass with airosol glass cleaner and dry it with newspaper. No streaks or lint.

This ussually takes 4-6 hours depending on the level of analness. The object is to make everything look "clean" not "cleaned".

My SVT Contour was the last black car I will ever own for sure. Waaaay too much hassle to keep shiny.

My new silver Tacoma looks great even if I don't wash it for 2 weeks. Love it!

04 or 05? The <04's were that lunar mist metallic, which had a few parts per million of brown in it, just to keep you from thinking it's ever really completely clean, but also - never 'dirty' way cool

Yes I have the lunar mist as well.

Mine is an 04...standard cab 2.7 4cyl, manual, 4wd, etc. Nothing fancy but very utilitarian:

I love this truck...! (I repeat this to myself every time I roll up my windows or manually lock my doors )

I'll post up some of my car later, but this is my buddies cars. He is amazing when it comes to detailing cars. I value no ones opinion even remotely as much as his. I think his work speaks for itself...
I know they are big, but necessary to show the detail...
here is a close up of the hood of his 2001 Firehawk:

And here is his Toy (the hawk) and his daily driver (mustang GT).

since we are talking about zaino....i love this stuff. best reflection you can get out of a polish. the great thing about this stuff is that it is very durable. one coat with last several months where other waxes only last a month. the secret to this stuff is apply it very thin and do a few layers. i have a few pictures here, but they don't do justice. i have better ones but im at work.

    Tim and Beantown,

YOur cars's look super. I started to do my truck since my bike came out so nice. The truck was in pretty bad shape. I started with 3M perfect-it II to get the nasty spider scratches out and then have applied Menzerna final polish. The truck looks just short of amazing, and I haven't put any wax on it yet. I do think I will try the Zaino for the final coat protector though.

When I go all out I first clean with a hose and bucket of wather with Mother's car wash. Then I dry it and bring it into the garage (if its sunny) and use some Meguiars gold class liquid wax. I find myself getting less and less meticulous about cleaning it. The bike has a couple chips of paint missing, a slight dent in the tank and a mismatched tail section now.

Id say the bike was in its prime at end of last year beginning of this. I was using mothers carnuba paste wax then.

Do you think a clay bar might bring back some of the paint that fell off or maybe put a shine on the primer thats left on my truck?

My truck didn't look quite as bad as yours but it was very neglected. Hadn't seen wax or wash in 2 years. I've been paying way too much attention to my ride.

I know your truck would look 200% better if you did what I did to mine............

Look at the reflection on the hood. You couldn't see anything before.
