    dirt bike -> motard???

    hey

    I am obcessed with motahhds, but afford most of them.

    Is it feasible or even possible to start with a mid-80's dirt enduro street legal thingy and convert it to motard like beast?

    Would that get me close to experiencing a motard or not even close?

    an 86-ish XR or XT in street legal trim usually run around the $800-1000 range in decent condition.

    general consensus says...?

    As long as the bike has a title, a dual sport on the road is pretty fun. You can probably get *almost* road tires for it too, whch will make it even better. If you find a set of 17's and figure out how to make them fit, you're in business.

    dirt bike -> motard???

    an XR would be ideal but excell dosn't make a ring carrier for the 400. but if you could spend $1500-$2000 you could possibly get a Yz426 and then you would have a 5 speed instead of a 4 speed trany. that I think would be the way to go if you put in a little extra money... I think that the yz426 has come down a lot in price because of the 450s and the alum. frames.
