Re: Dirt Bikes Seized by Boston Police
It's really like anything these days, if people don't like what you are doing they will use the guise of political correctness to condemn you. The term "racist" has become a punchline. Those who wish to promote race equality have only destroyed their own cause by pushing it too hard. Those who actually do suffer from racist actions are now under scrutiny of pulling the "R" card.

Fourteen Under Arrest as the BPD... - Boston Police Department (Official) | Facebook
BPD and Walpole police impound 11 bikes and ATV's, arrest 14 and send out warrants for six more. Getting serious.

The last one was better, when the guy got on and asked when he was getting his bike back!
I wish there was a way Boston kids could get into the sport without riding up Blue Hill Ave.

#bikesupgunsdown
Its a slippery slope if you start taking their bikes away. Don't you prefer vehicular manslaughter to homicide? Its really a no-brainer.
Re: Dirt Bikes Seized by Boston Police
I like to blow stuff up with tannerite while cooking meth in my back yard. It's that or I rob banks. I figure the cops will leave me alone 'cause they don't want me robbin' banks. The other stuff is just fun.

Of course there is! Pool their money, rent a trailer and head to places with trails. I'm sick of seeing this shit happen justified by "those kids never get a break."

Its cute people say that, I would bet a good 3/4s of kids don't care whats available, they want whats easy/attention grabbing. (not a race thing, across all races, its part of being a teenager).
My town built a huge skatepark in my town, considered one of the best in the area. Kids aren't allowed to skate in public parks since they have a place to go. Guess what, kids still skate in other parks.
Re: Dirt Bikes Seized by Boston Police
I agree, it has nothing to do with access to legal riding areas. This is all about asserting power and presence in a society that otherwise overlooks these kids. I was listening to an NPR piece on urban gun violence the other day, in which one kid summed it up best: "When I shoot, I matter." This is the same phenomenon.

Thank you, I have been at the top of that for a couple of days now. Ed H
BTW, the location where they got them is right down the street from me, I won't miss them. This means I can ride freely on the trails once again, I had a bit of an inside scoop a few months back to stay out of there.

It's a small dead end road with some industrial buildings on it, and a trail that leads to the high tension roads. But they are on the paved road most of the time, not in the woods. Some of them go ride in the woods but not many of them. And they always leave a big fucking mess of trash behind, cans bottles and whatever they were eating. One spot where they will go to on the trails looks like a friggin dump.

The BPD deserves praise for battling loud pipes - The Boston Globe
Quote:
I recently checked in with Boston Police Commissioner Bill Evans, a top cop refreshingly aware of the importance of quality-of-life issues, to get an update on the BPD’s efforts in the long twilight struggle against the raucous racket from loud motorcycle pipes.
The BPD has written about 120 overall violations in the last eight months, which is to say, since fall of last year. About half included fines; the others were warnings, Evans says. That’s up from the 105 violations issued in the previous year. And way, way up from the hear-no-problem pace of the previous administration.
Evans quips that as someone who feels as though Logan-bound airplanes are landing on his South Boston home when he opens his windows, he understands how annoying excessive noise can be.
“It is a big quality of life issue,” he says of motorcycle noise.
