Yea...I had one of those as my first bike and do not see how anyone would find riding them offroad enjoyable. Unless it was a fire road or a dirt road.

I had a 2006 KLR before my 2 V-Stroms. It was Kawasaki Green, so it looked like a Preying Mantis.
About four days after I put my new V-Strom (#2) on the road, I was cruising down a dirt road in Barre when I hit some clay. There are many pictures of "sleeping V-Stroms" but this is mine.
So later, when I hit an even worse trail, alone and out of cell phone coverage with my 485 lb bike, I bailed before I got to take any epic pics.
But my favorite "sleeping pic" is a guy who was headed down a trail fairly uneventfully, until one of his bags hit a tree and spit him off the bike. When he picked himself up:
...And I believe that's a DL1000, which weighs about 525lbs wet.
I always joke that BMW GS riders invite me along on rides "Because it takes three of them to pick one up." But in fairness, I'm little better off, and when everyone is loaded down with camping gear, food, clothing etc for a four day trip, things can go wrong more easily. This guy pre-rode this route alone, without gear the week prior. But then he dropped it on his leg.....
Luckily, he was completely unhurt.

Dumb. At minute 1 I tip the bike on it's side and slide it grabbing the wheels.
This guy just didn't want to tip the thing over.

That's, like, Rule #1 of Off Roading: *Never* enter water if you do not know how deep it is. Try to watch someone else go through first. Then, modify your line accordingly.
I like how he coated his friend in mud at the end of the vid. Betcha he was sore the next day.

Having spent most of my riding career off road, I would have to assume that there is somewhat of a matching water filled rut on the other side, just out of sight. The tall embankments made that extraction very difficult, otherwise, the bike could have just been laid over and dragged out.
On some bikes, you will see straps that have been attached to the forks, just above the fender, just for this purpose.
That looks like a 1997 CR250 - with the bars rotated w-a-y forward.
I know what he did, he thought it would be cool to blast in between the rut, been there done that on my KLR 250, fortunately it is much lighter than the 650 or a Big Boxer, ahem.
When he and his buddy almost got it free they go forward without even thinking about going backwards first, and over the high pass, what a hoot.
The music is perfect, and the video rocks.
