I know I've come off a bit intense, I'm actually quite light hearted. Sometimes I get this way when I'm feeling like I have to prove I'm serious about something, it's a girl thing. But forums are hard sometimes too, you know adding your own voice to messages you're reading and not really knowing anyone yet. Getting the tone wrong.
I absolutely want to do this right, I know it's dangerous messing around with this stuff. I'll reach out to you via IM and we can chat about starting points and priorities - thanks for helping!
Already got one.

Looks like these guys have it covered. And are you rocking a stock shock? If so id consider an ohlins or penske.

Diz, I bought my 848 last year. Ive done about 20-25 trackdays in my life, but only 3 on this bike. Its my first Ducati and, like you mine is a Corse. I learned a LOT about this bike in a very short period of time...I was tossed right into the fire like you have been. Im writing this post in response to the handeling question...
The 848 can be an amazing handeler. From the factory, its not when at race pace. Whats that mean? The bike will inherently run wide on corner exit, its heavy and combersome to change direction...essentially it takes more muscle to heave this bike around compared to some others.
There are some components that can be changed to improve these charateristics. The factory Ohlins rear shock is much improved over the stock one, but not quite as good as a true aftermarket Ohlins TTX. Its closer to the aftermarket Ohlons than it is to the stock Showa shock. So, your current shock is a fantastic starting point! Your front forks are also top components, there are improvements, but as a novice, they will work great! The important part is setting sag, both rider and static. At that point, the little turns of compression and rebound is something you need to play with as you ride. Its a lot of feel. When I set sag and did a little turn turn bounce bounce it completely transformed the bike for me. So, im my opinion, judging you and your ability (which is totally wrong to do and I know I shouldnt) I think the stock Corse suspension setup for you is the way to start. If you had a lowering link installed, that will make the bike handel worse. I know you dont wanna hear that, but theres no way for me to say that and make it true... You dont need to be flat foot, its now a racebike, just use one butt cheek on the seat and one foot down when you stop.
Theres lots more, but I believe at both yours and my ability, we dont have the skill to 'outride' the machine.
Id be glad to talk more about specific suspension components, but I dont think this is the time or tue thread to put it in.
Im not a racer, just a lowly trackday rider... I just happen to be in a love affair with the 848 Corse....

Setting the sag is where to start. Then, turn a ton of laps until you develop the feel and language to describe what your experiencing. Until you can do that further manipulation is a crap shoot. Good luck. (Maybe ill see you at a Bomo day? I hear their intro program is pretty good...')

Put some Yellow on the tank but leave some stainless showing...... Yum!!
i bet you could get away with the OEM fork internals and shock, as it's lower grade Ohlins already.
but you'll most likely need to change the springs front and back for your weight.
these are the sorts of things that should be done before making it pretty. it sounds like you're on the right path now anyways. so you should be ready to go.
CAN I PLEEEEEASE PUT SOME YELLOW n BLACK ON THE TANK>>>> i Promise to make it look even better!! lol. but seriously.. give me the tank..
