IIRC there was also one in Quebec where the key slot had been tampered with.
One reason why they don't get stolen is that they will not fit in a regular cargo van without removing the mirrors and windshield. Not sure they would fit in s minivan at all.
My theory is that Adventury bikes don't get stolen much for that simple reason.
You found a DL650 that doesn't run?! What did they do to it?!?
That's not a great deal.
ugh...now I don't know again...saw an acceleration video...does this thing lose momentum after 90mph?
socal freeways safer if you can cruise at 80ish and pass ~100ish
Busa or nothing.
interstate bike to Vegas for lunch may be ST or FJR sorta thing
price point on DL-one a bit higher...I may just keep the fzr
Yeah, you don't have realistic expectations out of a $2k bike. Sorry. You won't be happy with much until you prioritize what the bike needs to do, you want it to do, and things it would be nice to do.
Momentum? No, keeps that.
Does lose out to aerodynamics though.
If you're looking for an autobahn / triple digits cruiser then this is not the droid you're looking for. Mine will make it to ~100 indicated fairly easily.. after that. I think the fastest I've had mine was 125-ish.. again, indicated. Real speed is probably -10%. It was completely tapped.
argh...the fzr does fine on freeway cruising/passing (dare I say, fun?)...so I may just keep that $900 bargain bike
The dude put in a battery and bike is ready to go, so I am going to see it tomorrow...we'll see if the off-the-line torque impresses me
I know, I know...spend more...I've just gotten away with spending less in the past and being happy that I go into every bike acquisition, confident that I can do it again
so that '07 will re-sell for $2,000 if I don't like it?
Rent one for a half day instead to try it out. Then either buy it or don't. Probably significantly cheaper than reg/tax/insurance then reselling it.
The guys on the German V-Storm forum say they don't usually cruise at 160kmh (about 100) because fuel economy is so poor at that speed they have to stop too often. But that's usually with bags.
I may have video but on the straight at NJMP I think I hit 112 on the SV650 and 107 or 108 with the V-Strom. If you didn't have bags or a giant windshield you can easily hit 100mph, and that's the trap speed in the 1/4 mi.
I am sure it will cruise at 80 on expressways
My 1000 without a windshield does everything returns about 42 mpg
allegedly 650 are like mid 50's but then would be mid 40 at expressway speeds
Get an aftermarket seat go everywhere all day
I'd been averaging 54MPG across all conditions when I stopped measuring at like 29k miles.
if you want passing power @90mph with a V-strom, get the 1000, in 4th gear, it will boot right up to 135 rather quickly
I saw the 650...All the other wee storms are $3,000++
I will pay a lot for transaction fees in CA but I feel like I can get out of it for roughly the same price...He already paid reg to the end of next year so I will just pay the transfer fee and sales tax
Going to sleep on it tonight and ride it again tomorrow...seems like it could make a nice commuter bike for a year
Get the Givi windscreen. It's tall but that and a Madstad = amazing touring bike. Oh, and ditch that fucking seat.
DL1k Seat is far superior for teh cheep. Taller/flatter.
CalSci screen here. Huge improvement.
Looks like 2-up riding may be a thing I do more one day soon. I think that may finally be the end of the DL650 for me.
Learn from the mistakes of others. Get a vasectomy NOW.
That DL looks to have quite a few farkles. Get a few more and you'll be good for 50k.
DL1k seat (or $$$$$ RDL)
Rox Risers
CalSci/Givi windscreen + Madstad
Proper springs for your weight/Racetech valves/fresh oil for the front end
For a communist he gives OK advice
I put on seat concepts on my DL1K better for all day
My shock is out a Sasquatch and planning to just go 7.5 w fork oil down from 10wt
