Much better than the hooligan in NYC.
this begs to question that if they didnt break the speed limit is it still illegal?? if 2 people were to have a slow race on a street would they get ticketed/arrested for racing?

Probably the best thing to come out of Montgomery,AL. There are worse crimes happening there. Shoot I remember seeing a Dunkin Donut clerk behind bulletproof glass.
It's amazing what some cops can get away with and maintain a job versus how little others have to do to loose the same job.
I've been charged with an unsafe start, before, when I lit up the rear wheels on my M3. I'm sure that someone could try to claim that this was also an unsafe start.
Regardless, it's a bunch of BS, as we all know. Neither rider was unsafe, and the cop was actually doing something to strengthen his relationship with the community - demonstrating an appreciation for motorcycles. If the guys were tearing down the highway at 100 mph, then that's a different story.

The guy that posted that video should be ashamed of himself. Dick move.
Wirelessly posted
In my opinion that is a smart cop doing community police work.
Again. Its all about generating money and looking like youre doing the right thing.
That's BS. Friendly cop having fun w/ the public, didn't even look like he was speeding.
Then again, if they have a huge problem with drag racing along that stretch of road it probably wasn't the smartest move... but I dunno if it shoulda cost him his job. Who knows, maybe they were lookin for a reason to can him.

The guy who shot the video claimed they topped out at like 60 or something. Don't know what the limit on that stretch is, but it seems pretty harmless to me.
This is the problem with blanket laws like that, IMO. Clearly nobody's getting hurt here. Yet the law is the law.
Silly. Cost the poor guy his career.
Unions aren't as strong in 'bama.
I'm torn on this. I understand the ethics comment from the pompous chief on one hand but on the other wtf? Guy loses his job over something that looks pretty innocent and is pretty questionable what actual statues were violated. Drag racing is a stretch here.... We have cops every day who are unquestionably guilty of some pretty horrific things yet they still have jobs?
Not the correct line in the sand to draw based on that video, IMO.
this cop could've gotten away with it if he didn't yell out "this thing's got a turbo!"
plausible deniability...

Wonder if race may have something to do with the cop's being fired.

Wasn't a race. No harley beats a sport bike
Really though, he accelerated quickly, and stopped accelerating somewhere close to normal speed limits on those roads. Big deal. Think the decision the chief made was influenced at all by the recent NYC problems?

I suspect the chiefs move was motivated by an overwhelming desire to cover his own ass. Little more.

I wonder if anybody should maybe have a look in that Chief's basement, might be some missing Boy Scouts there. People that uptight and repressed do some dark things when nobody's looking.
