so i went to the drags last night... and there was another RF, i was so excited i nearly crapped my pants.
yea but anyways. the new clutch got me about 4-5 more mph per run, better times (brought the avg down by .65) and generally consistent resutls.
not bad, i beat the other RF on some runs, but not when we lined up side by side for some reason, i kept fucking up the launches.
so overall, not a bad night. i want to go back though and learn how to drop the clutch soon.
best time on the RF is now 13.5 at 104.5 mph.
i am pretty sure i can break 13 with some improvements in the getting goign part of the track. but without some aftermarket parts, i dont think this little 600 will do much better than that.
i like racing the RF though, its fun and HARD, the horsepower is so low that any mistake is very noticeable in the times. with the extra power, like with the Falco, i could probably fuck up the launch, the shifts from 1st, to 2nd AND 2nd to 3rd adn still easily break 120 at the mid 12's.
oh well, enuff rambling,
who wants to go to the track again soon, i really wanna work those launches.
oh and on a funny note... that other RF, had HUGE problems with missing second too, Jay you were so right about these things having known issues with that shift. With the GP shifting setup, i only missed 2nd twice outta 5 runs, unlike the 5 out 6 previous runs.
practice, practice practice!!!

might be fun to do an SV vs. RF battle at some point...
the you can have some![]()
The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.
I still want to go do that too.
I keep bagging. I could have gone last night, yesterday morning I got up and had the nagging urge to ride my bicycle to work instead of the SV, so that kind of nixed shooting up to the track after work.
Makes you wonder doesn't it? Some anorexic magazine editor probably ran low 11's on the RF600 right?
I'd like to run you T, to see how much of a difference the gearing between SV and SVS makes.
Ben
bwahahahahaa
and thats all i have to say about that...![]()
But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.
i'd imagine it'd give you the edge, ben... but i'm not sure if rider skill (or lack therof) would be the bigger factor.
my first few nights of dragging, i'd probably be too chicken to get a good time.

You know what sucks?
I can ride my bicycle to work faster than the motorcycle assuming normal traffic. It totally blows.
Ben
this is why i love my job.
it takes longer for me to get to work on the bike than the cage... but that's cuz i'm hitting an extra 25 minutes of twisties* instead of the pike.
*: "twisties" of course, meaning, a road that curves slightly, which is the best i've found so far.
The only "intuitive" interface is the nipple.
I don't think I'm very good...
I can finally hit the shift points now that I've lived on a road that's totally straight with traffic lights for 6 months, but my launch is so-so. I don't even get the front end light every time.
Ben
i *still* haven't lofted the front yet.
but i did get 170+ miles out of the dinky tank last fillup, and the fuel light wasn't even steady yet.

The most I've dared is 195 miles, the light had come on solid just before I filled up.
Nice to know in case I ever decide to ride through the midwest or something.

No traffic I can get to work in 1/3 or less the time on the SV that it takes to ride the bicycle. Normal traffic I sit at the lights on the SV and lane split and/or bend the rules on the bicycle so it's faster.
You going to come race? Saturdays are good, I would have figured they had "real" drag racing on saturday.
Ben
I give up.

Ben
dont take that from her dude... lay the smack down.
anyways, weds and fri. nights there is open runs and most saturdays, after the grudge matches and sanctioned events. but the saturday runs, i think are during the afternoon, not at night.
lets pick a weds. and go with it for now.
next weds sound good?

Wed, August 14th looks OK. Weeknights it's just hard for me to get up there that's all. Usually I'm stuck at work late, and the traffic is hell trying to get back to NH most of the time. (Unless 495->95->101 turns out to have no traffic)
So if there is a saturday that works out, It would be cool.
Ben
i usually fight my way up 495 (crowded and annoying) from 93 then get on 125 north (empty and quick)
from andover it takes about 45 minutes due to traffic.
