    Unhappy I Dropped My Bike

Damn, damn, damn! I shoulda known it would happen! I dropped it just now. Ego hurt more than anything else, but I am so pissed at myself. I just lost my balance and over it went. It went kinda in slow motion so everything isn't all scratched up - Brake pedal seems to have taken the worst of it and is now bent slightly in. Anything else I should check? I got 2 small scractes in the paint, and small scratches on the mirror and handlebar on that side plus the damaged brake pedal. So far anyway...

it is probably fine as it's not pissing fluid. You may want to check lever operations..foot and hand... look at the mounts of anything that hit the ground...pay closee attention to the frame amd mounting points on the frame....and look close at the case covers...

    I Dropped My Bike

I dropped mine while taking it off of a rear stand. Actually it was more of a speed controlled drop to the ground. During the winter I had my bike in my 3 season porch (carpeted floor) and I had it up on the rear stand to fix something. When I took it down, I forgot to put my kickstand back down. Once the bike started to go over, I grabbed the rear end I managed to catch it but I was over far enough where my front wheel slid out and there was nothing I could do. The rear stand was tangled up in the rear wheel so I couldn't just stand the bike up. I was so pissed I just picked up the entire rear end of the bike and was yelling to my girlfriend to move the rear stand. She was afraid to come near me because she knew I was pissed. I managed to kick the stand out myself and stood the bike up properly. My girlfriend ran and hid in the other room while I looked the bike over! Lucky for me there wasn't even a scratch anywhere!

No, no fluid pissing going on. Just fell real slow in the driveway. I almost saved it, but it just wasn't going to be my day today. I took it out after and it seemed that just the brake pedal had issues - it worked fine, but was bent so as to make it difficult to operate.

Yeah, yeah - I guess there is always a bright side to everything

The suckiest part is that (of course) I never really thought about dropping it and what I would DO if (more like when) I did drop it. That frigger was awful to pick up! I just about broke my thigh and my thumb/palm doing it - that sucked!

HEY OREO, if you have some time, write up some instructions on how to pick up a dropped bike and post them for all of us... Naturally, the most experienced should be the one instructing all of us...

Damn, I just rememberred - I dropped my bike damn!

yeah, well... what can i say? i have a vivid immagination.... another possibility is if you pull into a gas station, shut off the bike, put down the kickstand & the car at the pump ahead of you leaves so you decide to pull up to that pump... so you put the kickstand up, pull forward & go to get off but forget the kickstand is still up.... yeah, that would suck, too... glad it hasn't happened to me cuz that would suck.... yeah i could definintely immagine that sucking

or the time I... er... i mean IF SOMEONE let their friend borrow their bike & he.... she/it... dropped it in a gravel driveway.... that would suck too.... glad it hasn't happened to me. (OK, OK... ya got me there, that one actualy DID happen to me when i let my best friend borrow my bike... but the other times? just hypothetical situations )

    I Dropped My Bike

Hehe - at least ya got me laughin' long enough to forget for a few...

My husband just got home and checked it out. He fixed the brake already. We found the only other damage to be to the brake handle, which is bent, but he said I can order another one and he'll fix it if I want. I don't really care - looking at the bike you can't even tell it was dropped unless you look real close so it's all good now...

Prolly worth taking a real close look at the levers... especially if they're aluminum and were bent back. If the metal "fatigued" you wouldn't want to find out at the worst possible moment... just my $.02
Levers are cheap. Femurs are valuable.

Um, not that I have any experience in this area either...

    I Dropped My Bike

HAHAHAHA!!!!!! I climbed on my old 954 while parked on the side of the road, my left shoulder slipped out of joint (they both did that all the time until the right one was reconstructed due to an 80MPH get off last year ) and I didn't have my right hand on the bars. The bike stood up and went right over on the other side. Worst part is I did it in front of my brother and a riding buddy while doing a map check infont of a house that was having a front yard BBQ Lots of witnesses.

    Don't feel bad, gravity happens

    Many Many

    My favorite ..

I get a new hydrostatic drive lawn tractor

Press right foot down and it goes...
My old lawn tractor push right foot down it stops...

Theres the bike in the garage
I roll in behind it and
    "Hit the brakes...aaah go pedal"
bike rolls forward at 2 miles an hour
    Lifts its kick stand..
Pauses for about a full second
Falls to the left directly into the corner of the chimney
exactly where it has to be to
crease the tank in about 6 inches long an inch deep

That just sucks! That happened to my Busa the first day I had it out! I was bumped by a truck, but it happened in slow mo like you said. I had the entire side farring replaced (at their expense). Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

    Thanks all.

We were in Wareham last weekend, but we took the car and went just for the night. Will probably be the 4th of July week next time we are there and I think we are going to bring the bikes then, at least for a couple of days anyway, then go back with the car...
